  • HSN names SVP digital commerce

    ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — HSN announced that Arthur Lewis has been appointed SVP merchandising, digital commerce, effective June 27.  Lewis will report directly to Jill Braff, EVP digital commerce for HSN.

    Lewis will oversee HSN's cross-channel merchandising strategy on hsn.com, mobile and tablet platforms.  He will also leverage his extensive digital background to grow all brands and categories of business, including online product exclusives and category expansions, the company reported.

  • Wal-Mart: Senior China exec has departed company

    Bentonville, Ark. -- Wal-Mart Stores disclosed in an email Friday that its China senior VP operations has left the company.

    According to a Friday report by Bloomberg, Shawn Gray has left the company, but no reason for the departure has yet been given.

  • Paradise Capital Group acquires Paraiso Town Center

    Thousand Oaks, Calif. -- Beverly Hills, Calif.-based Cardinal Equities, through its affiliate Paradise Capital Group, said it has acquired from U.S. Bank a 50,000-sq.-ft. retail and office complex in Dos Vientos Ranch, a master-planned community in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

    Paraiso Town Center, built in 2008 and foreclosed on by the construction lender in late 2009, includes 40,000 sq. ft. of ground-level retail and restaurant space with outdoor dining, and 10,000 sq. ft. of office space.

  • Karlin Real Estate acquires two Phoenix-area centers

    Phoenix -- Los Angeles-based Karlin Real Estate said it has acquired through foreclosure two Phoenix-area shopping centers totaling nearly 220,000 sq. ft.

    The move follows the firm's purchase of a non-performing loan portfolio with an aggregate unpaid principal of approximately $65.5 million.

    The Boulevard at Surprise Pointe is a 201,223-sq.-ft. lifestyle center in Surprise, Ariz., anchored by a Walgreens and UltraStar Cinemas.

  • Jos. A. Bank opens at Southcenter Plaza

    Tukwila, Wash. -- Jacksonville, Fla.-based Regency Centers said it has leased retail space in Tukwila, Wash., at Southcenter Plaza to Jos. A. Bank.

    Jos. A. Bank has leased 4,075 sq. ft., bringing the center to 97% leased, and is currently open for business.

    The 170,000-sq.-ft. shopping center is anchored by a 112,000-sq.-ft. Target alongside national retailers such as Performance Bicycle, Super Cuts, Starbucks, Burger King and Quiznos.
     

  • Cheesewright to educate investors in Canada

    Walmart Canada president and CEO David Cheesewright is scheduled to speak next week at the Jefferies 2011 Global Consumer Conference near Boston. Walmart doesn’t typically push country presidents on stage at investor conferences except at its own analysts’ meetings when it has hosted events overseas in such places as China earlier this year or prior years in Brazil and the United Kingdom. However there are some interesting things going on in Canada these days, and the Jefferies event is an opportunity for Walmart to showcase some of its management talent.

  • Macy's tentative agreement averts strike in NYC

    New York City -- Macy's and some 4,000 of its New York-area workers said Thursday they have reached a tentative contract agreement after a night of negotiations.

    The agreement, if ratified, will avert what could have been the department store chain's first strike in nearly 40 years.

    "Following an all-night negotiating session, Macy's is pleased to have reached a tentative agreement with Local 1-S of the RWDSU on a new five-year agreement," Jim Sluzewski, Macy's spokesman, said.
