  • Office Depot selects Teradata for large data warehouses capabilities

    Atlanta -- Teradata, the analytic data platforms, marketing applications, and services company, announced that it is working with Office Depot to expand the retailer’s enterprise data warehouse (EDW) with the very latest Teradata platforms and innovation. The new Teradata Active EDW can support the most demanding real-time workloads, with the ability for unlimited concurrent users to run queries against massive data volumes.

  • Zulily almost doubles Q2 earnings, sales

    Seattle – Online specialty retailer Zulily beat Wall Street expectations by almost doubling its net earnings and sales in the second quarter of fiscal 2014, compared to the second quarter of the previous fiscal year. Net income rose 95% to $7.8 million from $4 million, while net sales increased 97% to $285 million.

    Zulily attributed its overall strong performance to improved mobile sales, with mobile devices now accounting for 47% of North American sales, a growing customer base, and higher average order values.

  • Survey: Seven-in-10 consumers say digital coupons have positive impact

    Austin, Texas - Nearly seven-in-10 consumers (68%) surveyed strongly believe that digital coupons have a positive impact on a retailer's brand, and 68% also state that coupons generate loyalty. According to a new survey from RetailMeNot Inc. and Forrester Consulting, digital coupons increase the potential for conversion when consumers are in the cart and checkout phase of a purchase, and they play a key role in combating shopping cart abandonment.

  • Aldi wins again on pricing perception study

    Discount grocer Aldi, Costco and Walmart were recognized as the nation’s low price grocery leaders in a recent study conducted by Market Force Information.

    It was the fourth consecutive year Aldi has received the low price distinction in the survey conducted by Market Force, a leading customer intelligence solutions firm. When asked to rank the top grocers offering low prices, the 6,200 consumers who participated in the study ranked Aldi first, Costco second and Walmart third. Aldi president Jason Hart was quick to take a victory lap.

  • Lids acquires Nashville Sporting Group

    Indianapolis - Lids Sports Group has acquired wholesale team sports company Nashville Sporting Goods and its production affiliate National Team Embellishment, both headquartered in Nashville, Tennessee. The purchase includes Nashville Sporting Goods.

  • Global Payments to offer bitcoin option to merchants

    Payment solutions provider Global Payments has signed a referral agreement with BitPay, a payment service provider (PSP) specializing in bitcoin digital currency, which will allow Global Payments to incorporate the cryptocurrency into its product suite and offer bitcoin payment acceptance to its worldwide merchants.

  • Cold Stone Creamery opens first Pakistan store in September

    Scottsdale, Ariz. - The Cold Stone Creamery will open its first store in Pakistan in September. Kahala Brands, the parent company of Cold Stone Creamery, has signed a master franchise agreement with Venus Pakistan (Pvt.) Ltd., part of the Venus Group of companies, spearheaded by Adnan Asad.
