  • Sears conducting wide-ranging strategic view of business

    Sears Holdings is considering spinning off its Lands’ End and Sears Auto Center brands as part of a wide-ranging strategic review of its business. The company’s Sears Canada subsidiary has also sold five Canadian store leases to Cadillac Fairview Corporation Limited for about $383.4 million.

  • Kmart expanding online and in-store conveniences to Puerto Rico

    Hoffman Estates, Ill. -- Kmart announced it is extending its integrated retail shopping strategy, which connects online and in-store shopping channels to provide more flexible ways to shop, to customers in Puerto Rico. For the first time this holiday season, Puerto Rico-based Kmart customers and Shop Your Way members will have access to online layaway, store-to-home shipping, free Anyone, Anywhere pickup and free store pickup.

  • Golf Galaxy opening two interactive locations

    Pittsburgh — Golf Galaxy has announced the opening of two interactive retail locations. The new stores include the second Golf Galaxy in Missouri and the chain’s second location in Nevada.

    A 32,000-sq.-ft. interactive store will open November 1 at the Chesterfield Commons in Chesterfield, Mo.

    A 29,000-sq.-ft. interactive Golf Galaxy will open Nov. 1 in the Stephanie Street Power Center in Henderson, Nev.

    As of Aug. 3, the retailer operated 81 Golf Galaxy stores in 30 states and e-commerce websites.

  • 1-800-Flowers.com keeps steady net loss in Q1

    Carle Place, N.Y. – 1-800-Flowers.com reported a net loss of about $4.5 million during the first quarter of fiscal 2014, essentially unchanged from the prior year. Revenues grew 2.9% to $123 million, from $119.6 million.

  • Target online veteran to head up inRetail, new omni-channel retail agency

    San Jose, Calif. -- Lance Thornswood, longtime general manager of user experience, e-commerce and creative for Target.com and interactive marketing, has been tapped to head up inRetail, a new division being launched by The Stephenz Group, one of Silicon Valley’s largest independent branding, marketing and digital agencies. The specialized division will address the growing consumer demand for omni-channel retail.

  • Unleashed by Petco opens in Queens, N.Y., Nov. 9

    San Diego -- Unleashed by Petco, specialty pet supply banner of the Petco Animal Supply. Inc. chain, opens a new store in the Fresh Meadows section of Queens, N.Y., on Nov. 9.

    Unleashed by Petco stores include features such as the Pet Deli, which offers a display of assorted fresh and frozen food. There is also a special sample wall where pets can taste test to find their favorite food.
