    WASHINGTON — Goodwill returns to the Pepco Edison Place Gallery with its Goodwill of Greater Washington pop-up retail shop. Pepco donated space so the stores can temporarily open its doors for the holiday with the theme Peace & Goodwill.

  • International market to get taste of Babies’R’Us’ Scrumptious line by Heidi Klum

    WAYNE, N.J. — Babies”R”Us is getting ready to give its exclusive Truly Scrumptious line designed by Heidi Klum the international treatment.

    Following Truly Scrumptious’ successful U.S. launch in fall, the retailer decided to roll out the line of products for babies and children in more than a dozen countries outside the U.S. beginning early 2013.

  • Online retailer Gilt names new CEO

    Discount luxury goods retailer Gilt appointed board member Michelle Peluso CEO effective at the end of February 2013 to replace company founder Kevin Ryan.

    Peluso is currently the global consumer chief marketing and Internet officer at Citigroup and has served on the Gilt board since 2009. She fills the position held by Kevin Ryan who founded the innovative company in 2007 and will remain as chairman. Current chairman Susan Lyne will become vice chairman.

  • Claire’s expands into China

    Chicago -- Claire's Stores Inc. announced the recent opening of the first Claire's stores in China, in DaNing Life Hub in Shanghai. The company’s second China store will open on Dec. 7, in Grand Gateway Mall in Shanghai.

    Claire’s has entered China on an owned and operated basis and has established a new division based in Shanghai.

  • Online shopping platform names COO

    LOS GATOS, Ca. — Wanderful Media, a new Silicon Valley company that helps retailers bring consumers into local stores and facilitates ways for consumers to discover local merchandise, has appointed Doug Kilponen as its new COO. In his new role, he will oversee all business units and collaborate with CEO Ben T. Smith IV on strategic goals.

    Founded in November 2011, Wanderful Media is creating an online platform for shoppers to explore products and sales with the mission of connecting shoppers with local brick-and-mortar retailers.

  • Gymboree profit, comps dip in Q3

    San Francisco -- The Gymboree Corp. reported Wednesday that net income for the quarter ended Oct. 27 fell 22.6% to $46.9 million from $60.6 million in the year-ago period.

    Sales edged up 2.8% to $311.5 million, but same-store sales dipped 4% in the quarter.

    During fiscal 2012, the company said it maintains its plans to open approximately 124 new stores, including 98 Crazy 8 stores.

     

  • QVC to acquire Oodle to fuel social commerce

    West Chester, Pa. -- QVC announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, California Voices, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Oodle, a social commerce leader that runs the Oodle Marketplace application on Facebook. The acquisition is expected to close by Dec. 31.
