  • Two new tenants to open at Janss Marketplace

    Thousand Oaks, Calif. -- NewMark Merrill Cos. said that Sweet Tooth Dental Center and Dish Restaurant will open at Janss Marketplace, in Thousand Oaks, Calif., bringing the center to 97% occupancy.

    Dish Restaurant signed a 10-year lease for a 6,548-sq.-ft. space near Aaron Bros. and RadioShack. The new restaurant at Janss Marketplace, which is the second location for Dish, is slated to open in mid-Sept.

    Sweet Tooth Dental Center signed a five-year lease and has opened in a 2,613-sq.-ft. space near Dressbarn and Payless Shoe Source.

  • Former Walmart exec named CEO of Dots

    GLENWILLOW, Ohio — Fashion retailer Dots has named former Walmart SVP, Lisa Rhodes as its new CEO.

    Rhodes, who led Walmart's U.S. apparel merchandising division, has been charged with leading Dots’ march toward 1,000 stores.

    Prior to her role at Walmart, Rhodes was EVP and chief merchandising officer for Maurice’s.

  • Citi Trends narrowed loss in Q2 but missed Street

    Savannah, Ga. -- Despite narrowing its loss in the second quarter from $10 million to $7.9 million this quarter, Citi Trends still missed Wall Street expectations.
     
    Revenue edged up 2% to $132.3 million, which also missed analysts’ forecast. Wall Street expected sales of $133.9 million.
     
    Same-store sales slipped 4%.

    All eyes are on J.C. Penney Co. as it rolls out the first wave of its branded shops to nearly 700 stores nationwide. 

  • Finish Line names Wal-Mart exec as senior VP store operations

    Indianapolis -- The Finish Line announced Wednesday it has named Greg Beidler as senior VP store operations for the chain.

    Beidler was previously regional operations director for Sam’s Club/Wal-Mart Corp., and has served in management roles for GameStop, Brown Shoe, Circuit City and Athlete’s Foot.

  • Target profit flat in Q2; raises outlook

    Minneapolis -- Target Corp. reported Wednesday that profit for the second quarter remained essentially flat at $704 million.

    Sales advanced 3.5% to $16.45 million, boosted by a 3.1% same-store sales rise in the quarter but missed Wall Street’s expected $16.75 million in revenue.

  • New tenants announced for East Peoria Downtown

    Peoria, Ill. -- Cullinan Properties, developer of the East Peoria Downtown shopping center, hosted a ceremonial ‘Steel Raising’ event last week to mark the development of the Peoria project.

    Joining Target and Costco at the center will be Ulta Beauty with an 11,000-sq.-ft. store adjacent to Target, and Gordmans, which has leased a 50,000-sq.-ft. space slated to open in early 2013.

  • Cotton on Kids opens at Galleria at Tyler

    Riverside, Calif. -- Chicago-based General Growth Properties said that Australian brand Cotton On Kids has opened a store at Galleria at Tyler, located in Riverside, Calif.

    The 3,185-sq.-ft. store is located on the lower level next to Helzberg Diamonds.
