  • Macy's, Rite Aid now offer Plenti more rewards

    Macy’s and Rite Aid are joining the other major retailers and companies that have partnered with Plenti, the first U.S.-based loyalty coalition  that allows shoppers to earn rewards points through a variety of purchases, from paying a phone bill to filling up at the pump.

  • McDonald’s reveals initial steps, leadership team for turnaround plan

    Oak Brook, Ill. – McDonald’s Corp., which recently reported a 33% year-over-year decline in profits for the first quarter of fiscal 2015, is revealing the first steps of its turnaround plan. Beginning July 1, 2015, McDonald's will operate under a new organizational structure with the following market segments:

    U.S.: The company's largest segment, accounting for more than 40% of the Company's 2014 operating income;

  • Gander Mountain to open in Marion, Illinois

    Marion, Ill. -- Outdoor gear and apparel retailer Gander Mountain is set to open its new location, in Marion, Illinois, on May 7.

    The new 52,000-sq.-ft. store is the company’s eighth in Illinois. The exterior and interior layout reflect Gander Mountain's new store design featuring innovative interior elements, displays and fixtures.

  • Potbelly promotes executive to VP of operations

    Chicago - Potbelly Corp. has promoted Julie Younglove-Webb as its new senior VP of operations. Younglove-Webb will oversee all aspects of company operations.

    Younglove-Webb joined the Potbelly 2008, as a general manager and then a district manager before assuming various operations roles and being promoted to her latest role as Central Zone VP, overseeing 250 shops. She replaces John Morlock, who will now serve as senior VP of ops growth.

  • WinCo Foods opening 100th store

    New York -- Discount supermarket company WinCo Foods LLC will open its 100th store on May 7, in Lewisville, Texas. The 83,000-sq.-ft. location is the fifth WinCo store to open in the Lone Star State.

    The new store features WinCo's signature "Wall of Values" at the entry, which displays a wide variety of high-volume, value-priced products.

    WinCo currently operates some 100 stores in the states of Washington, Idaho, Nevada, California, Oregon, Arizona, Utah and Texas.
     

  • Tractor Supply Co. to open up to 115 new stores in 2015

    New York -- Expansion plans are under way at surging Tractor Supply Co., which had a 5.7% increase in same store sales and a 19% increase in earnings in the first quarter.

    The Tennessee-based retailer said it plans to open 110 to 115 new stores in 2015, as well as build a new distribution center in Casa Grande, Ariz. For the first quarter, same store transaction count increased 4.8% and average ticket increased 0.8%. Pet and heating consumables, fencing, truck accessories and tools all performed well, the company said.

  • Sunoco L.P. names new chairman; shuffles board

    Houston - Sunoco L.P. has appointed Matthew S. Ramsey as chairman of the board. Ramsey succeeds Sam L. Susser, who has resigned from the board to pursue other new business interests.

    Ramsey has served as a director of Sunoco L.P. since August 2014, serving as chair of the audit committee and serving on the compensation committee. Ramsey also serves as a director of Energy Transfer Equity L.P. and is chairman of the audit committee, as well as a member of the compensation committee.
