  • Swiss Farms takes intelligent enterprise approach

    Swiss Farms Stores has come a long way since it launched 50 years ago as an outlet for a local dairy to sell excess milk.

    Today, the Broomall, Pennsylvania-based convenience retailer operates 13 stores on a drive-through model where customers place orders from their cars in an express lane and have items quickly delivered to them at the window. And it isn’t done growing.

  • Stark Enterprises purchases The Shoppes at Stonecreek

    Pickerington, Ohio -- Stark Enterprise announced the addition of The Shoppes at Stonecreek located in Pickerington, Ohio to its retail portfolio. The 45,000 sq. ft. center is currently 100% occupied, tenants include: Lifetime Fitness, Petland, Advanced Vapor, Lomonico’s and Roosters.

    “This acquisition further expands our footprint outside of Northeast Ohio and is a prime opportunity for us to prove the transformational impact we have on our properties,” said Ezra Stark, COO for Stark Enterprises.

  • Study reveals three rules of mobile retail

    Retail is a lot like real estate – it’s all about location, location, location.

    At least this is the conclusion of the fourth annual Mobile Path to Purchase study from location-based marketing provider xAd. The 2015 report reveals that 35% of U.S. shoppers who researched their impending purchases on their mobile device expect to buy within the hour.

    In addition, those who research goods and services on the go are nearly twice as likely to purchase within the hour than those at home, and have a greater likelihood to convert in store.

  • Walgreens’ Q4 profit beats Street; yearly sales top $103 billion

    Fresh on the heels of its announced $17.2 billion acquisition of Rite Aid, Walgreens Boots Alliance reported fourth-quarter net earnings of $26 million Wednesday — compared to a $221 million loss during the same period last year — and finished significantly ahead of analyst expectations. Net sales climbed almost 50% to $28.5 billion during the quarter, which ended August 31.

    The latest case of reported retail POS fraud highlights the need for EMV adoption.

    Regional convenience chain Casey’s General Stores Inc., which operates 1,887 stores in 14 states, has confirmed that credit card skimming devices were discovered at six of its stores in Nebraska and one store in Iowa.

  • Walmart kiosks to offer health assessments and rewards with new partnership

    Walmart is launching a new initiative with InComm and Pursuant Health that allows health plans to promote health risk assessments at kiosks in Walmart stores.

    InComm, a leading prepaid product and transaction services company, and Pursuant Health (formerly SoloHealth) announced the partnership at the 2015 Money 2020 Conference in Las Vegas.

    Oak Brook, Ill. -- Inland Real Estate Acquisitions announced the acquisition of five properties in September on behalf of Inland related parties totaling nearly 500,000 sq. ft. across five states. The acquisitions collectively total $138.4 million in purchase price.

  • Moms migrating more of their purchases to mobile

    Moms are now much more likely than ever to complete a purchase via mobile, rather than simply using their devices to compare prices and find coupons.

    According to a new infographic from pregnancy and parenting website BabyCenter, in just one year, there has been a 33% increase in moms using their smartphones for making actual purchases. Sixty-four percent of moms say they had completed a purchase via mobile in the last month, in comparison to 48% who said the same in 2014.
