  • Von Maur to open its first Alabama store

    Davenport, Iowa -- Von Maur Department Stores will open its 29th store at Riverchase Galleria Mall in Hoover, Ala., on Nov. 2. Located just outside of Birmingham, Ala., the three-level, 185,000-sq.-ft. store will be the company's first location in Alabama and will become one of Von Maur's largest stores in the country.

  • Five Applebee’s sold in 1031 exchange

    San Diego  — Representing a real estate investment trust, The Mansour Group has sold a portfolio of five Applebee’s for $13.3 million.

    To complete the transaction, The Mansour Group sourced a private high net worth California investor, who sold an apartment complex and acquired the portfolio through a 1031 exchange. The restaurants are located in North Carolina, Texas, Tennessee, Minnesota and Kentucky:

  • GameStop to hire 17K for console launches, holidays

    Grapevine, Texas – GameStop plans to hire approximately 17,000 employees nationwide as the company prepares for the upcoming PlayStation 4 and Xbox One console launches, as well as the holiday shopping season.

  • Petco opens at Levin-managed Hamilton Plaza

    Hamilton Township, N.J. — A 13,640-sq.-ft. Petco has opened at Hamilton Plaza in Hamilton Township, N.J., according to Levin Management, which manages and leases the 175,515-sq.-ft. property. Ripco served as the tenant’s broker in the transaction.

  • Rent-A-Center opens Hawaii store

    Wichita, Kan. – Rent-A-Center has opened a new store in Kihei, Hawaii. The new Rent-A-Center is located at 1215 S. Kihei Rd., Ste. 3.

    “We’re very excited to be here in Kihei,” said store manager Robyn Idemoto. “We’ve gotten a great response from the community. Everyone’s like family out here, and I really like that. I feel that we can bring a lot of positivity to the community.”

    GRAPEVINE, Texas — Multichannel video game retailer GameStop has announced plans to hire approximately 17,000 employees nationwide as the company prepares for the upcoming PlayStation 4 and Xbox One console launches, as well as the busy holiday shopping season.

  • Best Buy appoints Weather Company exec to board

    New York -- David Kenny, chairman and CEO of Weather Company, parent company of The Weather Channel, has joined the Best Buy board of directors.

    Kenny, who joined The Weather Company in January 2012, previously served as president of Akamai, a cloud platform.
