  • Macy's launches Fashion Week inspired exclusives

    NEW YORK — Macy's exclusive new MADE Fashion Week for Impulse collection is now available at 150 Macy's stores and online at Macys.com. Inspired by New York's MADE Fashion Week initiative co-founded by Jenné Lombardo, Mazdack Rassi and Keith Baptista, MADE Fashion Week for Impulse combines fashion, music, art and pop culture, reflecting the unique street-style of today's tastemakers. 

  • Saks redesigns website

    NEW YORK — Saks Fifth Avenue has redesigned the Saks.com homepage to include a longer, more fluid layout that more prominently highlights seasonal trends and most-wanted designers. 

    The new site now features larg-scale photography, improved navigation, easier access to magazine-style features and enhanced product detail pages.

    Saks.com was last refreshed in July 2010 and the last complete redesign was in September 2007.

  • Control Group enhances social side of Kate Spade Saturday brand

    NEW YORK — Control Group, a New York City-based technology and design firm, has unveiled its work with the newly launched Kate Spade Saturday brand. The unique concept celebrates the social side of shopping by bringing the online experience into the retail stores. The first experience will be through the flagship store in Tokyo, which opened on March 2. It will roll out to all other retail stores – both in the United States and Japan – throughout 2013.

  • Foot Locker profits up in Q4

    NEW YORK — Foot Locker's fourth quarter profit rose to $104 million from $81 million a year earlier.

    Sales jumped 14% to $1.71 billion, including the benefit of an extra week. Same-store sales rose 7.9%.

    For fiscal year 2012, which included 53 weeks, the company reported net income of $397 million, compared to $278 million a year earlier.

    Total sales increased 9.9% in 2012 to $6.182 million, compared with sales of $5.623 million last year. Same-store sales were up 9.4% in 2012.

  • Former Sears Canada chief administrator named EVP at Charming Charlie

    HOUSTON — Fashion accessories retailer Charming Charlie announced that Tom Fitzgerald has joined the company as EVP, CAO and CFO.

    "We are confident that Tom's vision and specialty retail experience will bring tremendous value to our company as we continue to be the leading fashion accessories destination," said Charlie Chanaratsopon, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of charming charlie. "Tom is not only a leader in finance; he is a balanced and strategic business executive whose background will complement us well."

  • Urban Outfitters’ Q4 profit doubles

    Philadelphia -- Urban Outfitters reported net income of $83 million for the fourth quarter ended January 31, 2013, up from $39.26 million in the year-ago period, on strong same-store sales and higher revenue.

    Total company net sales for the quarter increased 17% to $857 million. Comparable retail segment net sales, which include comparable direct-to-consumer channel, increased 11% for the quarter, while comparable store net sales were flat.

  • Uniqlo to open second U.S. mall location

    New York -- Uniqlo, a division of Japan's Fast Retailing Co., will open its second U.S. mall location, at Palisades Center in West Nyack, N.Y., on March 15.
     
    The 24,000-sq.-ft. store will showcase Uniqlo's complete offering of products for men and women, as well as its spring kids collection.

  • Charming Charlie names CFO

    Houston -- Charming Charlie announced that Tom Fitzgerald has joined the company as EVP, chief administrative officer and CFO.

    Tom most recently was the chief administrative officer of Sears Canada, where he was responsible for store operations, IT, merchandise planning and allocation, logistics, sourcing, and store innovation.

    Prior to his role at Sears Canada, Tom held several leadership positions at Liz Claiborne, and Bath & Body Works.  

  • Dick’s to open 40 stores in 2013 and debut Field & Stream format

    Pittsburgh -- Dick's Sporting Goods Inc. on Monday forecast a full-year profit for the current fiscal year that was less than expected, and also revealed it will debut a new retail concept in fiscal 2013 under the Field & Stream banner.
     
    In 2013, the company said it will open two Field & Stream stores, 40 Dick’s Sporting Goods stores, one Golf Galaxy store and two True Runner locations. The chain also plans partial remodels of 75 existing Dick’s stores.
