    Just in time for the peak holiday shopping season, Sears is introducing "Reserve It" – a free service that lets Shop Your Way members pick out apparel and footwear in stock at their local Sears, put the items on hold, and then try them on once they arrive at the store.

  • Mass customization comes to Nordstrom footwear

    Shoes of Prey is partnering with Nordstrom to house their design-your-own-shoes studio concept in six major locations across the country. The first Shoes of Prey Design Studio at Nordstrom will open today in Bellevue, Wash. Other studios will open in 2015.

  • High-end retailers give Beverly Center the nod

    Los Angeles -- A round-up of new additions to Los Angeles shopping destination Beverly Center have further elevated the shopping experience at the Bloomingdales- and Macy’s-anchored center.

     

    Uniqlo opened on Oct. 10, introducing a Los Angeles flagship for the fast-fashion retailer in 30,000 sq. ft. of space that is the largest storefront in the Uniqlo portfolio.

Zappos is generally regarded as one of the most customer-friendly retailers around, and after seeing how things work behind the scenes I can attest this reputation is well deserved. Here are five cool ways Zappos uses corporate culture and innovation to disrupt the customer experience and behind-the-scenes operations.  
  • Crocs names McKinney global advertising agency of record

    New York -- Crocs Inc. has named McKinney as its global advertising agency of record. The agency will provide everything from creative and strategy support to media activation and brand management for all Crocs shoe collections.  
  • Fayette Mall expansion officially opens

    Lexington, Ky. --CBL & Associates Properties announced the opening of the expansion at Fayette Mall in Lexington, Ky. Designed to significantly enhance the offerings at the shopping center, the redevelopment of the former Sears location included expanding the mall entrance to create 115,000 sq. ft. of new retail space for a mix of fashion stores, home furnishings and fine dining options in the heart of the shopping center.
  • Skechers opens 1,000th store; 35 to 40 more locations to open by yearend

    Manhattan Beach, Calif. -- Skechers is celebrating the opening of its 1,000th retail store. The company, which operates in more than 75 countries, hit the milestone mark with the opening of a new store in Mexico City on Wednesday, preceded by an additional store opening in Mexico earlier this week and two in California last week.  
  • Sport Authority to open on Thanksgiving

    For the second year in a row, Sports Authority said most of its stores would open at 6 p.m. Thanksgiving Day.

    Stride has developed a new app called RiteFit that allows an iPad to be used as a device to accurately determine a child’s shoe size.

  • Gap sales drop in Q3, October

    San Francisco –- Gap Inc. reported declining net and same-store sales for the third quarter and October 2014. For the third quarter Gap’s net sales were $3.97 billion, down 2.5% from $3.98 billion for the third quarter the prior year.
