  • Big and Tall retailer takes on Big Apple

    Destination XL Group plans to open its first store in Manhattan this June and promises the city’s big and tall men an upscale experience at its store on 699 Sixth Avenue.

  • Destination XL opens Manhattan store in June

    New York -- Destination XL Group, Inc. will open its first Manhattan store in June 2014. Located in the Chelsea section of Manhattan, the new DXL stores represent the company’s superstore format.

    As part of the company’s new redesign, the store will feature wider aisles and larger fitting rooms, as well as sofas, chairs and flat-screen televisions.

  • Men’s Wearhouse extends tender offer for Jos. A. Bank

    Fremont, Calif. -- The Men's Wearhouse has extended the expiration date of its tender offer for all outstanding common shares of Jos. A. Bank, in accordance with terms of the March 11 merger agreement. The offer and withdrawal rights are now scheduled to expire on April 9, 2014, unless further extended.

  • Guess Q4 profit dips 4%, sales beat Street

    San Francisco -- Guess Inc. saw fourth-quarter profits slide 4% on softer sales in the three-month period.

    Net income fell to $69.6 million from $72.5 million, and revenue for the quarter ended Feb. 1 dipped to $768.4 million from $815.1 million. Revenue results still beat Wall Street expectations of $758 million.

     

  • Academy continues store-opening March in Midwest

    Katy, Texas -- Sporting goods retailer Academy Sports + Outdoors will continue its Midwestern expansion push with plans to open four new stores across Indiana and Kentucky later this fall.
     
    The first two locations — Evansville, Ind., and Owensboro, Ky. — will mark Academy's entry into both states followed by the opening of stores in Louisville and Middletown, Ky., prior to the holidays.

  • Iconix edits executive team

    Iconix Brand Group has made changes to its executive management team.

    Seth Horowitz has been promoted to chief operating officer. Jeff Lupinacci has been hired as CFO, and Rodney Hutton has been hired as EVP of the men's division.

    Warren Clamen has resigned as CFO to pursue other opportunities, according to the company.

  • Gap to open five Old Navy franchise stores in Philippines

    San Francisco -- Gap Inc. plans to open five franchise-operated Old Navy stores in the Philippines in 2014. The first two Old Navy stores will open in Manila in March and there are plans to open three more stores in the second half of the year for a total of five Old Navy stores in 2014.

    The first of two Old Navy stores, a dedicated three-story building, will open in the heart of Manila’s fashion and shopping district, Bonifacio High Street, on March 22. The second store will open in the prominent Glorietta mall on March 29.

    As part of its international growth strategy, Gap plans to open five franchise-operated Old Navy stores in the Philippines in 2014.

    The first two Old Navy stores will open in Manila this month, and there are plans to open three more stores in the second half of the year for a total of five Old Navy stores this year.

  • Men's Wearhouse to acquire Jos. A. Bank for $1.8 billion

    New York -- Ending a five-month saga, Men's Wearhouse said it would acquire Jos. A. Bank Clothiers for about $1.8 billion, or $65 per share in cash. As part of the deal, Jos. A. Bank will terminate its plan to acquire Eddie Bauer from Golden Gate Capital.
     
    The boards of both companies unanimously  approved the transaction.
