  • 'Fashion Star' launches exclusive line at Macy's

    NEW YORK — Kara Laricks has been named the first winner of NBC's reality competition show, "Fashion Star," and as part of her prize, the designer will launch an exclusive collection at Macy's that is available at 110 Macy's stores across the country and on Macys.com for a limited time.

  • Chico’s Q1 beats expectations, ups outlook

    Fort Meyers, Fla. -- Chico's FAS Inc. said Wednesday that its fiscal first-quarter net income rose a better-than-expected 17% to 53.6 million in the three months through April 28, compared with $45.9 million a year ago. The chain also bumped up its revenue outlook for the year.

    Revenue rose 21% to $650.8 million, beating expectations, from $537.2 million a year ago. The company September acquisition of women's clothing chain Boston Proper added $33.7 million in sales during the quarter.

  • Saks profit climbs in Q1, revenues miss

    New York -- Saks Inc. reported Tuesday that net income for the quarter ended April 28 rose 13.2% to $32.1 million, from $28.4 million last year.

    Revenue for the period climbed 3.8% to $753.6 million, missing Wall Street’s expected $762.6 million. Same-store sales rose 4.8%.

  • Jones Lang LaSalle awarded assignments for retail centers in Florida

    Orlando, Fla. -- Jones Lang LaSalle announced that it was selected for two retail assignments in Florida: management and leasing for the Galleria at Fort Lauderdale in Ft. Lauderdale and management for Vero Beach Outlets in Vero Beach.

    The Galleria at Fort Lauderdale is a 964,423-sq.-ft. super-regional mall in South Florida, anchored by Neiman Marcus, Macy’s and Dillard’s.

  • Superdry USA opens 14,000-sq.-ft. store in Times Square

    New York -- British lifestyle brand Superdry USA on May 9 debuted its largest North American retail destination to date, a two-story, 14,000-sq-ft. store in New York City's Times Square. It is the brand’s third Big Apple location.

  • Kohl's expands cause line with Fila

    MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — Kohl's has added athletic merchandise from Fila to its exclusive of Kohl's Care collection. Available now through the end of July, the collection offers chic and stylish athletic apparel, accessories and gifts which can be found in all 40 Wisconsin Kohl's stores and online at Kohls.com, with 100% of the net profit donated to support the fight against breast cancer, the company said.

  • Sycamore Partners raises offer for Talbots

    Hingman, Mass. -- The Talbots Inc. said it has received a raised takeover offer of $214.6 million from private equity firm Sycamore Partners. The company also said it entered an exclusivity agreement with Sycamore, which will end on May 15.

    Talbots said Sycamore had offered to pay $3.05 per share -- slightly higher than the $3.00 per share offer it made in December.

    The board of retailer said it continues to evaluate strategic alternative.

  • The Loft to open in Fort Worth entertainment district

    New York -- Ann Inc. will open a 5,394-sq.-ft. Loft store in Fort Worth, Texas’s shopping, dining and entertainment district Sundance Square.

    The new store, slated to open in the fall in a vacant restaurant space, will join a lineup of Houston St. retailers that includes Jos. A. Bank, Pappagallo Classiques and Leddy’s Ranch.

    Sundance Square unveiled plans for three new buildings to open in 2013 with retail space on the ground level of the buildings.
