  • Cushman & Wakefield New Jersey team gains three new leasing assignments

    East Rutherford, N.J. -- Cushman & Wakefield’s retail team in New Jersey has taken on three new leasing assignments, with projects spanning the Northern New Jersey market, in Morris, Essex and Hudson counties.

  • Fred Segal to occupy all retail space at new SLS Las Vegas resort

    New York -- Fred Segal will open The Fred Segal Collective, a multi-store retail experience, at SLS Las Vegas as part of the hotel’s opening on Aug. 23. In an unusual move, the brand will occupy all of the retail space in the resort.

    The Collective will be integrated throughout the entire SLS experience, creating shopping opportunities from the pool to the casino and dining areas. It will encompass nearly 10,000 sq. ft., with seven individual stores, including She, He, Jeans, Shoes, Jewels, Play and Goods.
     

  • Steve Madden acquires Dolce Vita Holdings

    Long Island City, N.Y. -- Steve Madden has completed the acquisition of privately held Dolce Vita Holdings Inc., which specializes in the design, sourcing and sale of branded and private label footwear. The acquisition was completed for $60.3 million.

  • Nordstrom expands SJP collection

    Nordstrom’s Sarah Jessica Parker line of handbags and shoes will be sold in five more stores this fall, bringing the total number of stores carrying the collection to 30.

    The company announced Monday that locations in Troy, Michigan; Bellevue, Washington; Skokie, Illinois; Austin, Texas; and Newport Beach, California would start carrying the film and TV star’s products. To accompany the expansion, Parker will tour three malls from Aug. 21-23 to promote her line.

  • Dillard’s net income drops in Q2

    Little Rock, Ark. – Dillard’s Inc. reported net income of $34.5 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2014, down 5% from $36.5 million the same period the prior year. Increased markdowns and the loss of after-tax credits and gains drove the decline in net income.

  • Cole Haan, Tokyo

    A brand known for its American craftsmanship has opened a flagship in the heart of the Ginza, one of the premier shopping districts in Tokyo.

    The 2,000-sq.-ft. space marks the new face of Cole Haan for its retail stores as it expands. It blends tradition and modernity in a casually elegant environment, with distinct presentations for both female and male shoppers.   

  • Dillard’s ‘disappointed’ in bottom-line performance

    Despite an increase of 1% in comparable store sales, Dillard’s CEO William T. Dillard II expressed disappointment in the company’s bottom line performance.

    The company’s net sales for the 13 weeks ended Aug. 2 were $1.475 billion, compared to net sales of $1.480 billion for the 13 weeks ended Aug. 3, 2013. Net sales include the operations of the company’s construction business, CDI Contractors.

  • Study: Department stores have best growth opportunity in Canada

    Los Angeles - The Canadian market offers an opportunity for U.S. retailers to expand and to gain experience operating in an international market. According to a new study from market research firm IbisWorld, the U.S. retail segment best suited for expansion into Canada is department stores, followed by men’s clothing stores.

  • American Apparel relocates Aix-en-Provence store in France

    Los Angeles – American Apparel has relocated its Aix-en-Provence store in France. Set in a former private hotel, the new location features an open, single floor layout and flower garden.

    The shop maintains much of the building's early architecture including stone walls, a fireplace (transformed into a shoe display) and double front doors depicting the city's emblem of two lion faces. With history dating back to the 16th century, it marks the company's oldest interior in Europe.
