  • Jos. A. Bank boosts sales in Q3

    Jos. A. Bank slightly increased its net income to $13.6 million in the third quarter of fiscal 2013 from $13.3 million in the same period a year earlier. The retailer also saw its net sales grow about 6% to $247.5 million, from $232.8 million.

    Same-store sales declined 0.1%, although direct marketing sales increased 23.5% and combined same-store and online sales increased 2.4%. Jos. A. Bank incurred $1.2 million of legal and professional expenses in connection with the company's bid to acquire The Men's Wearhouse.

  • DryClean NYC takes upper Manhattan location

    New York  — DryClean NYC has signed a lease for a fourth location in Upper Manhattan, according to Faith Hope Consolo, chairman, Joseph A. Aquino, executive VP and Arthur Maglio of Douglas Elliman’s Retail Group, who arranged the lease. The new store will open at 708 St. Nicholas Avenue, between 145 and 146th Streets.

    This is the fifth lease the Retail Group has arranged in the building. The other four stores include Sugar Hill Medical Plaza, Unity Wines & Spirits, W Dental and Metro PCS.

  • 360pi: Most Black Friday deals a myth

    Ottawa, Ontario -- Black Friday deep discounts could be a myth, with only a few retailers dropping prices on only a few categories. Some key findings from pricing intelligence technology provider 360pi based on Amazon's own assortment in eight categories, including TVs, video games, tablets and digital cameras, show that:

  • Port Authority sells remaining interest in WTC retail project to Westfield Group

    New York -- In a continued effort to return the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey to its core mission, the Board of Commissioners today approved the sale of the agency’s remaining 50% joint venture in the World Trade Center retail project to the Westfield Group for $800 million.
     

  • Cabela’s to open new store in Kentucky in fall 2014

    Sidney, Neb. – Cabela’s plans to open a 42,000-sq.-ft. Cabela’s Outpost store in Bowling Green, Ky. The store will be Cabela’s second in Kentucky, joining the Louisville location, and is scheduled to open in the fall of 2014.

  • Dallas retailers pilot mobile checkout app

    Dallas – Fifteen Dallas-area retailers are pilot testing Cartwheel Register, a free mobile checkout app that provides an intuitive and secure store system while creating a next-generation shopping experience for customers. Retailers in the pilot include gift shops, cafes, clothing boutiques, bakeries, caterers, food trucks and salons throughout the city and surrounding areas. Each business will use Cartwheel Register to perform credit, debit, cash and Skip Wallet transactions.
