  • Report: McDonald’s launches app in New England, Albany areas

    Oak Brook, Ill. – McDonald’s is reportedly making its free “McD” mobile app available to customers in the New England/Albany, N.Y. market. According to the Boston Globe, New England/Albany is the third market where McDonald’s has released the McD app, which is available for both iPhones and Android smartphones.

  • Gordman’s Stores reports lower net income

    Omaha, Neb. – Gordman’s Stores reported declining net income even as net income grew in the third quarter of fiscal 2013. Net income for the third quarter of fiscal 2013 was $1.1 million, down 72.5% from net income of $4 million in the third quarter of the prior year.

  • Nordstrom Rack to open in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

    Seattle -- Nordstrom announced plans to further expand its Los Angeles-area presence with the addition of a Nordstrom Rack at Janss Marketplace in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

    The approximately 40,000-sq.-ft. store is scheduled to open in fall 2015. The Rack location at Janss Marketplace is a development by Seritage Realty Trust, a division of Sears Holdings Corporation.

    Nordstrom has operated a full-line store approximately one mile from the new Rack location at The Oaks since 2008.

  • Ahold USA appoints new CFO

    Dan Sullivan was elevated to the role of CFO at Ahold USA following the departure of Paula Price.

    Price spent nearly five years there, but decided to take her career in a new direction, according to a statement by the supermarket operator, subsidiary of Netherlands-based Royal Ahold and owner of the Stop & Shop and Giant Food Stores chains. Price will lecture at a leading university on leadership and technical topics related to her unique business journey in addition to complementing her existing corporate and non-profit board positions, according to the company.

    Carlisle, Pa. -- Paula Price is resigning as executive VP and CFO as Ahold USA.

  • Mobile shopping skyrockets Thanksgiving and Black Friday

    New York -- When compared with a baseline shopping period of mid-October of this year, total mobile visits on Thanksgiving and Black Friday increased 93%. Data from multichannel platform provider Usablenet also shows that overall mobile transactions increased 219% and total revenue from mobile transactions increased by 368%.

    In addition, average order value increased by 56.3%, conversion rates increased by 93%, and shoppers spent an average of 47 seconds longer on site (the average length of visit was just more than six minutes per site).
