  • Publix named a best place to work for IT professionals

    LAKELAND, Fla. — For the eighth consecutive year, Publix has been named as one of IDG’s Computerworld top workplaces for information technology professionals, the grocer announced Monday.

  • Marcus & Millichap names Houston senior associate

    Houston -- Marcus & Millichap Real Estate Investment Services said it has hired Derek Hargrove as a senior associate in the Houston office.

    In his new position, Hargrove will focus on the sale of multi-tenant shopping centers throughout southwest Texas. He also holds the title of associate director of Marcus & Millichap’s National Retail Group.

  • Dollar General eyes Northeast expansion

    PHILADELPHIA — Plans for a new distribution center near Philadelphia will allow Dollar General to more effectively replenish its rapidly expanding store base.

  • SRS announces exec promotions

    Dallas -- SRS Real Estate Partners announced the promotions of two team members. Tom Power and Todd Wallace both have been promoted to executive VP.

    Power has more than 13 years at SRS and is a managing partner for SRS Real Estate Partners – Northwest, LLC. He also serves as market leader for SRS' Northern California markets: San Francisco, San Jose and East Bay.

  • Union report: Rite Aid workers and shareholders to attend shareholder meeting

    Harrisburg, Pa. -- The Pennsylvania AFL-CIO said Tuesday that workers, union leaders and shareholders will attend Rite Aid's annual shareholder meeting in Harrisburg, Pa., on June 21.

    The group will hold a "Summit Meeting," attended by groups from California, Florida, Ohio, New Jersey, New York and West Virginia, and followed by a media briefing.

    Rite Aid workers have attended four previous shareholder meetings. 
     

  • Macy’s NYC flagship extending hours during renovation

    New York -- Macy’s Herald Square has extended its shopping hours to make it easier for shoppers while the flagship undergoes its extensive, four-year renovation.

    Starting Monday, the store opens at 9 a.m., instead of 10 a.m., Monday through Friday. The Saturday and Sunday schedule remains the same, 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. and 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., respectively. 
     

  • Sustainability, literacy continued goals for Target

    MINNEAPOLIS — Target has released its 2011 Corporate Responsibility Report, and while the company was happy to offer insight into its past performance, its focus is on the future. In that vein, the company has introduced new corporate responsibility goals:
     

    • To increase its sustainable seafood selection by ennsuring its fresh and frozen seafood offerings are 100% sustainable and traceable by the end of fiscal year 2015.

    • Enhance at least 50 owned-brand packaging designs to be more sustainable.

  • Saks launches new Facebook page for job applicants

    New York -- Saks Fifth Avenue has launched a talent acquisition page on Facebook. The new “Careers at Saks” Facebook page will allow prospective job applicants to interact directly with Saks Fifth Avenue’s talent acquisition team, search available positions and keep up with Saks Fifth Avenue. The Facebook newsfeed will include “Jobs of the Day,” career and interview tips, and other pertinent updates weekly.
