  • J.C. Penney announces senior management promotions, additions

    Plano, Texas -- J.C. Penney Co. on Thursday announced several promotions and additions to its merchandising, operations and investor relations areas.

    “We’re rethinking every element of the retail business and there's no better way to re-imagine the possibilities than to tap the proven abilities of our own extraordinary talent along with the fresh perspectives offered by industry experts new to our organization,” said CEO Ron Johnson.

  • Future of Macy's Inc. in hands of thousands of students, graduates

    CINCINNATI — Macy's Inc. has invested in the future of America, by hiring more than 1,000 college and university students for its Executive Development Program and for summer internships nationwide.

  • Tuesday Morning fires CEO

    Dallas -- Tuesday Morning Corp. said Wednesday it has ousted CEO Kathleen Mason and will launch a search for a new chief executive.

    Mason was named president and CEO in 2000 and has come under fire as the closeout retailer has suffered slowing sales and widening losses.

    Tuesday Morning also announced that executive VP and COO Michael Marchetti has been promoted to president and COO and will service as interim CEO until a successor for Mason is found.

  • Tommy Bahama announces senior management appointees

    Seattle -- Tommy Bahama Group said Wednesday that Joel Gardner has been promoted to senior VP retail, and Bornie Del Priore has been named VP of Tommy Bahama Footwear, a new division for the company.

    Gardner has been with Tommy Bahama since 2006, most recently as VP retail planning and merchandising. Before joining Tommy Bahama, he was VP retail at The Orvis Co.

    Del Priore has spent the last four years at Tommy Hilfiger USA, most recently as executive VP accessories. She also spent 15 years at Ralph Lauren Footwear.

  • Mason out as Tuesday Morning CEO

    DALLAS — Tuesday Morning has ousted president and CEO Kathleen Mason and has begun a search for a new chief executive. Michael Marchetti, EVP and COO, has been promoted to president and COO and will serve as interim CEO until a replacement is found. Melinda Page, SVP, general merchandise manager has been promoted to EVP and chief merchandise officer and Seth Marks SVP of alternative sourcing and e-commerce has been promoted to SVP and chief marketing officer.

  • Casual Male Retail names chief marketing officer

    Canton, Mass. -- Casual Male Retail Group said Thursday that it has named Derrick Walker as senior VP and chief marketing officer.

    Walker was previously VP marketing for Lenscrafters. He has also served as VP marketing for Finish Line and as director of marketing for RadioShack.

    FULLERTON, Calif. — A store-level workforce reduction is planned for Albertsons' Southern California division.

  • NRF: New regulations threaten ability of women to obtain credit

    Washington, D.C. -- Federal regulations enacted last year potentially undermine a generation-old law guaranteeing women the right to obtain credit in their own names and need to be reconsidered, the National Retail Federation told a congressional committee on Wednesday.
