  • J.W. Childs exec appointed to Brookstone’s board

    MERRIMACK, N.H. — Brookstone, a multichannel specialty retailer, has appointed J.W. Childs executive William E. Watts as its new executive chairman of board.

  • Office Depot, Office Max select BCG for integration support

    Boca Raton, Fla. – Office Depot Inc. and OfficeMax Incorporated have selected The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) to provide integration support for the two companies’ pending merger. BCG will provide a dedicated onsite support team and work with management from both companies to establish a detailed integration plan and establish an overall vision and priorities for the merger.

  • Former P&G CEO returns

    Cincinnati – Former CEO A.G. Lafley, 65, is returning to Procter & Gamble in his former position. Lafley is assuming the role of CEO, president and chairman of the board immediately, and will replace current CEO Bob McDonald, who is retiring June 30. Procter & Gamble has been involved in restructuring efforts, including thousands of layoffs, for the past year and a half.

  • Kroger launches Honoring Our Heroes campaign

    CINCINNATI — Kroger plans to provide $2.3 million to support the USO's broad range of programs that assist service members and their families, as part of its Honoring Our Heroes campaign.

    For the following two weeks, store-wide promotions will feature hundreds of popular products at special sale prices. Customized shelf tags will highlight participating items, including Kroger's own products and items from key partners, including Unilever, Coca Cola, Kraft, Nestle, Frito Lay, Procter & Gamble, ConAgra and Dannon. Start and end dates vary by region.

  • Target rolls out beauty concierge program

    LOS ANGELES — Target has launched a beauty concierge program at 96 existing stores in Los Angeles and Orange County area.

  • Former Hampshire Group exec heads to Haggar

    DALLAS — Haggar Clothing Co. has appointed Don Schneider as the company's VP director of sales. He will report to Tadd Parnell, SVP national sales manager.

    Hagger will look to Schneider to lead the company's continued growth and management of its top national accounts, with special focus on Haggar dress shirts and sweater collections and the Haggar C18 golf collection.

  • Kohl’s donates $250,000 for Okla. tornado survivors

    MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. — Kohl’s has made a $250,000 cash donation to the American Red Cross, toward tornado relief efforts in Moore, Okla., and the surrounding area. The American Red Cross is delivering emergency supplies and services to the tornado-impacted areas.

  • Walgreens mobilizes aid for Okla. tornado survivors

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Responding to Monday’s tornado in the Oklahoma City area, Walgreens mobilized increased shipments of essential supplies to its area stores, made an initial donation of three semi-trailers of food, water and first aid supplies to the Oklahoma chapter of the American Red Cross and offered customers an opportunity to make donations at its Oklahoma drugstores.
