  • Specialty Running Group names RunOn founder as senior advisor

    Denver - The Running Specialty Group, part of The Finish Line Inc. organization, has appointed Bob Wallace as senior advisor, strategic initiatives. Wallace founded specialty running retail chain RunON, which Running Specialty Group purchased in 2012.

    Wallace will serve as a key counselor to strategically plan and integrate growth opportunities surrounding industry trends while focusing on attaining operational excellence and being an ambassador to the running community. He entered the specialty running business in 1995.

     

  • JLL adds trio of retail experts in Florida

    Orlando, Fla. -- JLL continues to build its retail brokerage practice in Florida with the addition of Andrew Dieringer, Terrence Hart and Brandon Delanois. The trio bring more than 40 years of retail agency leasing and tenant representation experience to the team, and will be based in the firm’s Orlando office. Together, they will partner with John Lambert, Florida Retail Market Lead for JLL, and Justin Greider, VP of JLL, to help investors achieve their asset goals and work with retailers to identify and secure optimal new locations.

  • La-Z Boy makes executive appointments

    Monroe, Mich. -- La-Z-Boy Incorporated announced the appointments of two executive officers. Doug Collier has been named senior VP of La-Z-Boy, chief marketing officer and president, international, and Darrell Edwards has been named senior VP of La-Z-Boy and chief supply chain officer.

    Collier rejoined La-Z-Boy Incorporated in June 2007 after two years with Select Comfort as chief marketing officer and senior VP marketing. Prior to Select Comfort, Collier held various leadership positions at La-Z-Boy from 2002 through 2005.

  • Sephora Secures Seasonal Staffing

    Everyone knows that stores need extra staff during the holiday shopping rush, but there is a big difference between carefully scheduling employees when and where they are needed and simply adding bodies to a store’s headcount. San Francisco-based beauty retailer Sephora has come up with a solution: The company is expanding its use of the Ceridian Dayforce workforce management platform to adjust holiday staffing according to both historical sales data and current trends.

    “We forecast the entire quarter’s sales and payroll,” explained Gino Filice, IT manager of Sephora.

  • NRF hires political affairs expert as VP retail programs

    Washington, D.C. - The National Retail Federation has hired Mary Heitman as VP of retail programs. Heitman comes to NRF from the Trust for the National Mall, where she served as director of events and deputy director of development.

    At a time of year when consumers are still caught up in end-of-summer barbecues and back-to-school shopping, retailers are getting caught up in the rush of holiday planning. Holiday sales can account for 20% to 40% of a retailer’s total annual sales, according to the National Retail Federation, and a successful holiday can turn around a bad year or make a good year even better.

    Birmingham, Ala. -- Books-A-Million appointed James Phelps as VP e-commerce. For nearly 15 years, Phelps has been a leader in e-commerce, serving with retailers including HSN, Kohl’s Department Stores, and Brookstone.
