  • NRF: Proposed regulatory relief must go further

    Washington, D.C. -- The National Retail Federation welcomed plans announced by the Obama Administration Tuesday to streamline hundreds of government regulations, but said the plan does not go far enough.

  • Leading toymaker names new COO

    MALIBU, Calif. — U.S. toymaker, Jakks Pacific announced the appointment of Jack McGrath as COO.

  • RCS Real Estate announces exec promotion

    New York City -- RCS Real Estate Advisors announced that Moe Puri has been promoted to VP from assistant VP.

    A member of the RCS Real Estate Advisors team since 2008, Puri’s primary responsibilities included re-negotiating leases on behalf of clients. He has since elevated his expertise and, as a VP, is managing several key client real estate portfolios.

  • New leadership announced at Sports Authority

    ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Sports Authority announced that Darrell Webb has been named as interim CEO of the company, replacing David Campisi who is resigning as CEO and president of the company. 

    As previously reported by Retailing Today, Webb currently serves as the chairman and CEO of Jo-Ann Stores. Webb previously has held senior positions at The Kroger Company, Fred Meyer Stores and Quality Food Centers. Webb will retain his position as chairman of Jo-Ann Stores while serving as Interim CEO of Sports Authority.

    It’s not easy keeping up with the comings and goings of retail executives these days. Every day seems to bring a change at -- or near -- the top. Among the most recent announcements was the news that Terrance Marks, CEO of The Pantry and architect of the chain’s turnaround strategy, was stepping down to take a position in Atlanta. Also hot off the wire: Mark Cosby, former president of stores at Macy’s, has been named president of CVS/pharmacy.

  • Walgreens names new general counsel

    DEERFIELD, Ill. — Walgreens on Monday named Thomas Sabatino Jr. EVP, general counsel and corporate secretary, effective Sept. 12.

    Sabatino replaces Dana Green, who is retiring after 37 years with the company, Walgreens stated.

  • Pantry CEO steps down

    Cary, N.C. -- The Pantry said Monday that CEO Terrance M. Marks plans to resign within two months.

    In a statement, Marks said that his decision was driven by personal reasons, and that he had accepted "an opportunity that will enable me to return to my home and family in Atlanta."

  • Estée Lauder CFO to retire in 2013

    NEW YORK — The Estée Lauder Companies announced that Richard Kunes, EVP and CFO, plans to retire effective on or about June 30, 2013. Kunes intends to continue to serve the company as CFO until June 30, 2012, or such earlier time as his successor begins to serve as CFO. Thereafter, he will continue his relationship with the company as EVP, senior advisor to the CEO, and work on special projects through June 30, 2013. The company will begin to assess internal personnel as well as external candidates for CFO.
