  • Jimmy John’s opens at Chapel Hills Mall

    Colorado Springs, Colo. -- Addison, Texas-based Coyote Management LP said that Jimmy John’s will open a 1,665-sq.-ft. sandwich shop at Chapel Hills Mall, in Colorado Springs, Colo.

    The new restaurant is slated to open this fall.

    Chapel Hills Mall is a two-level, 1.2 million-sq.-ft. enclosed super-regional mall anchored by Dillard’s, J.C. Penney, Macy’s, Sears, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Burlington Coat Factory.
     

  • Winn-Dixie to continue rollout of new format

    Apopka, Fla. -- Winn-Dixie said it has opened its fourth new-format grocery store, this one in Central Florida, on Wednesday, as part of its rollout of an enhanced neighborhood market concept.

    The newest store, located in Errol Plaza, is one of 17 planned store remodels. The company expects to invest approximately $5.5 million per store.

  • Atco acquires Austin shopping center

    New York City -- Manhattan-based Atco Properties & Management said it has purchased Crossroads Center, a 99,000-sq.-ft. neighborhood shopping center in Austin, for $14.25 million.

    The center is currently 70% leased to a mix of national tenants such as Bennihana, Chili’s, West Marine, Cycle Gear, as well as locals Trudy’s, Plucker’s and Big Daddy’s Burgers. 

  • Subway opens 600 new locations over three months

    Milford, Conn. -- Subway Restaurants said Monday that its franchisees have opened nearly 600 new locations in 48 countries, 42 U.S. states and seven Canadian provinces over the past three months, bringing the total of new Subway restaurants to just over 1,200 for the year so far.

    The new restaurants account for 1.4 million sq. ft. of retail space.

  • Storrs Center breaks ground

    Mansfield, Conn. -- Westport, Conn.-based Charter Realty & Development Corp. said that ground was broken on Storrs Center, a new mixed-use town center to be located adjacent to the University of Connecticut in Mansfield.

    At completion, the project will include approximately 200,000 sq. ft. of retail space, 700 residential units, and significant open space.

  • J.C. Penney, Nordstrom Rack to join Willow Grove Park lineup

    Philadelphia -- Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust announced that J.C. Penney, Nordstrom Rack, Bravo Cucina Italiana and Forever 21 will join The Cheesecake Factory in 190,000 sq. ft. of anchor space formerly occupied by Strawbridge’s at Willow Grove Park in suburban Philadelphia.

    The reconfiguration of the former Strawbridge’s store sets the stage for continuing the fashion-oriented merchandising strategy that differentiates the mall and appeals to a wide range of shopping and dining tastes.

    Ann Arbor, Mich. -- The reviews are coming in, and Domino’s Pizza is streaming them atop a billboard in one of the country’s busiest intersections: Manhattan’s Times Square.
