    In the old days, outlet centers either didn’t offer food options or the pickings were pretty lean. In today’s iteration, however, food often takes center stage.

    Villa Enterprises, a 50-year-old multi-brand restaurant operator of banners such as Villa Italian Kitchen, Mo’ Burger, South Philly Steak & Fries and Tinta Mexicana, has set the curve with its “Food Hall by Villa” in Simon’s Arizona Mills Shopping Center in Tempe. In a completely transformed, 13,262-sq.-ft. dining space with 14,280 sq. ft.

  • Gift cards not boring at Applebee’s

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Starting this month, social media users and others can send each other beers, cocktails and food items as gifts via a growing number of gift card options and features from Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar.  The chain has re-designed its gift card experience for both senders and receivers of gift cards that are redeemable at nearly 2,000 Applebee’s locations across the country.

  • Togo's names former IHOP and Taco Bell exec as COO

    San Jose, Calif. -- West Coast sandwich operator Togo's Eateries, Inc. has named Jim Peros as its new COO, charged with overseeing all operations and the expansion of the brand's restaurants throughout the West.   
  • Coal Vines to open at CityLine mixed-use development

    Richardson, Texas -- Commercial real estate firm KDC announced that Coal Vines will join CityLine, the company’s 186-acre mixed-use project in Richardson, Texas. The restaurant is scheduled to open in summer 2015.   “The Coal Vines concept is ideal for CityLine and brings an element of fun to State Street and the entertainment district,” said KDC’s Colin Fitzgibbons. 
  • DeRomo’s Gourmet Market & Restaurant opens new Florida location

    Bonita Springs, Fla. -- DeRomo’s Gourmet Market & Restaurant, a family-owned market, restaurant and catering company with operations throughout South Florida and New York, opened its newest location in Bonita Springs, Florida in October.   
  • Jasper’s to make restaurant debut at CityLine mixed-use development

    Richardson, Texas --Real estate development and investment firm KDC announced that Chef Kent Rathbun’s Jasper’s “Gourmet Backyard Cuisine” concept will join CityLine, the company’s 186-acre mixed-use project in Richardson, Texas. The restaurant is scheduled to open in summer 2015.

    San Francisco -- Ben & Jerry’s has opened its largest flagship to date, a 3,000-sq.-ft., two-story location in São Paulo, Brazil.     Designed by Tesser, a San Francisco strategic branding and design firm, the property showcases the company's social mission along with its iconic ice cream treats.
