  • Toys'R'Us launches kid-friendly tablet

    WAYNE, N.J. — Toys“R”Us has introduced a new Wi-Fi tablet for kids called Tabeo that is both fun and safe.

    This 7-inch, multi-touch tablet features 50 free, preinstalled apps that were carefully selected to entertain and educate children, while helping them explore the Internet, the company said. The tablet also features safety controls so taht parents can dictate the level of Internet access for each member of their family.

  • Dillard's names VP real estate

    LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Dillard's has named Chris Johnson as the company's VP real estate. Johnson, who has served as the Dillard's VP accounting since 2006, will assume the role following the retirement of James Cherry, Jr. in December.

  • Lowe's, Habitat for Humanity celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month

    DALLAS — Habitat for Humanity and Lowe’s are joining together to celebrate National Hispanic Heritage Month with two large construction projects that will bring together Lowe’s Heroes, community organizations, schools and local VIPS to celebrate Hispanic heritage while building strong foundations for the future in partnership with Dallas and Houston families. The project includes building two new homes and completing critical repairs on three existing homes in partnership with low-income families.

  • Divaris completes eight retail leases in central Virginia

    Virginia Beach, Va. -- Divaris Real Estate said that the company completed eight lease transactions totaling more than 81,000 sq. ft. of retail space in central Virginia.

    Children’s Museum of Richmond leased 26,060 sq. ft. of retail space in the Divaris-leased Winterpock Crossing Shopping Center, located in Midlothian, Va.

    K&G Menswear signed a lease for 22,888 sq. ft. of retail space in White Oak Village, located in Richmond and owned by Forest City Commercial Group.

    WAYNE, N.J. — Toys"R"Us has released the 2012 edition of the Toys"R"Us Toy Guide for Differently-Abled Kids. Published annually, this complimentary guide is available now in Toys"R"Us and Babies"R"Us stores nationwide and online, in both English and Spanish, at Toysrus.com/DifferentlyAbled. This year, mom, TV host and philanthropist Nancy O'Dell appears on the cover alongside Saskia Vogt, an 8-year-old girl with Down syndrome.

  • Nash Finch joins North Dakota grocer to provide resources for local schools

    MINNEAPOLIS — Nash Finch Company, a Minneapolis-based food distributor, has joined with Leevers Foods, a North Dakota based grocery operator,  to provide funding for resource rooms for the Devils Lake, ND School District and St. Joseph’s Elementary School. The resource rooms will be fully operational and available to students when school starts this year, and each room will be equipped with 10 iPads. The two companies are also establishing and an annual scholarship, The Leevers Family Scholarship Fund.

  • Target Facebook campaign raises $2.5 million for schools

    MINNEAPOLIS — Target's charitable Facebook campaign garnered more than three million votes in leas than four weeks, the company reported. Through its Give With Target campaign, the company was able to reach its goal of awarding $2.5 million in Target gift cards to schools across the country two weeks earlier than planned.
