Nash Finch joins North Dakota grocer to provide resources for local schools
MINNEAPOLIS — Nash Finch Company, a Minneapolis-based food distributor, has joined with Leevers Foods, a North Dakota based grocery operator, to provide funding for resource rooms for the Devils Lake, ND School District and St. Joseph’s Elementary School. The resource rooms will be fully operational and available to students when school starts this year, and each room will be equipped with 10 iPads. The two companies are also establishing and an annual scholarship, The Leevers Family Scholarship Fund.
“When the Leevers family told us about the need for additional technology resources in the Devils Lake schools, we knew we wanted to be part of the solution,” said Alec Covington, president and CEO of Nash Finch Company. “Both companies have strong ties to the Devils Lake community. Nash Finch Company started in Devils Lake in 1885 and Leevers Foods in 1938. Our companies are part of the fabric of the Devils Lake community and are proud to have helped with this worthy project,” concluded Covington.
The scholarship program, The Leevers Family Scholarship Fund will be administered through the Devils Lake Public School Development fund. The fund will award annual scholarships of $500.00 to Devils Lake students who have demonstrated community service, leadership qualities and financial need. The Devils Lake High School Scholarship Committee will select the scholarship recipients annually.
