Lids goes big in San Francisco

Lids is growing its retail footprint.

The sports retailer has opened its largest store yet, at Pier 39 in San Francisco. The nearly 7,000-sq.-ft. store, the company’s eighth in the city, is also Pier 39’s largest retail tenant,

The new Lids features two customization stations, Custom Lids, where shoppers can personalize hats and jerseys. It also features a Nike Zone and gear from every major sports league and college. 

"Our Pier 39 store will be a one-stop shop for all of the Bay Area's favorite teams – and more," said Tom Ripley, chairman and CEO of Lids.

Lids Sports Group is the largest retailer of hats in North America, with more than 28 million sold per year across their 1,200 locations. Beyond hats, Lids is the largest brick-and-mortar retailer of licensed sports product in North America. 

Lids Sports Group operates stores under a variety of banners, including Lids, Locker Room by Lids, Fanzz, Yankees Clubhouse Shops, Dodgers Clubhouse and Cardinals Clubhous.  Lids also has locations within select Macy's stores.
