The RealReal continues to expand its brick-and-mortar presence.

The luxury goods consignment retailer has unveiled a flagship in Chicago, on North Michigan Ave. The 12,000-sq.-ft. store is The RealReal’s largest location to date, and offers a variety of services, as well as shopping for men, women’s and children’s apparel and accessories on both the main and mezzanine levels. The offerings also include fine jewelry, watches, home products and art.

The flagship is also home to a consignment office and the company’s fourth in-store café, which is focused on “clean” eating options and supporting local producers. The store is also focused on sustainability, from using sustainable materials to refurbishing vintage furniture to creating compostable packaging for the cafe.

The Art Deco accented space is designed to reflect Chicago’s unique culture, including a Chicago-inspired sneaker “loop” and works by local artists. Everything in the flagship is for sale—including the furniture, art and décor.

Among the featured services are a glass-encased watchmaker station, where shoppers can see horologists work and get watch advice, and a tailor who provides custom fitting, alterations and apparel repairs from the mezzanine tailoring department. Repair services are also available for handbags, shoes and jewelry.

The store is merchandised according to brands, styles and trends, with an emphasis on Louis Vuitton and Gucci apparel and handbags; Tiffany & Co. and Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry; Rolex and Cartier watches; Yeezy and Jordan sneakers; and Burberry and Moncler outerwear.

As in The RealReal’s other stores, gemologists, handbag experts, stylists, resales specialists and valuation managers are on site. They are available to shoppers and sellers, providing insight into resale value, details on unique pieces, complimentary valuations and more.

“What sets our stores apart is how far beyond the transaction they go,” said Rati Levesque, COO of The RealReal. “Stores are a way for us to deeply engage with our community, which is why experts and services are at the heart of our store experience. Opening our largest store yet gives us even more opportunity to create a rich experience for buyers and consignors.”

Launched in 2011, The RealReal operates an online marketplace, five physical stores and consignment offices around the country, including one in each of its stores. It opened its first permanent store in 2018, in New York City, followed by a location in Los Angeles. It subsequently opened another store in New York City, and one in San Francisco.
