Kroger to reportedly close 18 health clinics in Georgia
The Kroger Co. is said to be scaling back its The Little Clinic operation.
The supermarket giant is shuttering all 18 of its The Little Clinic locations in the state of Georgia as of Saturday, April 4, 2026, according to the Macon Telegraph. In an emailed statement to the Telegraph, a Kroger spokesperson said patients can continue using in-store Kroger pharmacies but did not provide a reason for the planned upcoming closings or any other details.
Kroger Health, the healthcare division of Kroger, operates more than 2,200 pharmacies across 35 states and The Little Clinic offers telehealth services in nine states and operates more than 220 in-person clinics located across its Kroger banner, as well as regional banners Dillons, Jay C Food Stores, Fry’s and King Soopers, in eight states.
The Little Clinic was originally founded as an independent company in 2003 and purchased by Kroger in 2010. Physical locations offer walk-in care for everyday health concerns and common illnesses.
Interestingly, data from retail analytics firm Placer.ai found that in the first half of 2024, the eight Dillons locations with The Little Clinic saw, on average, 93.0% more visits per location than the chain’s banner-wide average. Jay C, which offers two in-store clinics, also saw visits to these venues outpace the first half of 2024 banner-wide average by 92.9%.

Placer.ai said relatively small overall footprints may have contributed to their outsize visit differences for both chains, as Indiana-focused Jay C operates just 22 locations while Kansas-based Dillons has some 64 locations. However, similar trends could be observed at Kroger (43.0%), Fry’s (19.2%), and King Soopers (16.5%) – as well as at H-E-B (14.5%).
Chain Store Age has reached out to Kroger for comment.
Based in Cincinnati, The Kroger Co. operates approximately 2,800 stores under a variety of banners across the U.S., including Kroger, Fred Meyer, Ralphs, Dillons, Smith's, King Soopers, Fry's, QFC, City Market, Owen's, Jay C, Pay Less, Baker's, Gerbes, Harris Teeter, Pick 'n Save, Metro Market and Mariano's.
