Kohl’s gets head start on Black Friday
Kohl’s Corp. is celebrating Black Friday throughout November and is introducing a new gamified digital experience as part of its holiday plans.
The department store retailer kicked off its Black Friday "Early Access" event the weekend of Friday, Nov. 7 – Sunday, Nov. 9. Kohl’s will conclude the omnichannel extravaganza with an extended Black Friday week sale that will run Sunday, Nov. 23 – Saturday, Nov. 29.
During the Black Friday Week promotion, shoppers will be able to take 15% off qualifying purchases and earn $15 in Kohl’s Cash rewards or every $50 spent. Limited-time online and in-store doorbusters will be available from Thursday, Nov. 27, through Saturday, Nov. 29.
Stores will be closed Nov. 27 in honor of Thanksgiving, but doorbusters will be available online and stores will open at 5 a.m. local time on Friday, Nov. 28 (Black Friday). On Nov. 29 only, shoppers can take an additional $10 off a $50 qualifying purchase.
Digital holiday game
As part of its holiday promotion, Kohl’s is also introducing a gamified interactive digital experience called "Kohl’s Holiday Quest" which provides daily prizes through Christmas Day, Thursday, Dec. 25. During the Black Friday Early Access event, 250 participating shoppers will win $50 in Kohl’s Cash each day, then from Nov. 23 - Dec. 1, 500 customers will win $100 Kohl’s Cash every day, as well as a $100,000 grand sweepstakes, with more than $1 million in total prizes to be given away.
Kohl’s builds on early efforts
Kohl’s initially started offering holiday deals in early October with the Kohl’s 4-Day Cyber Deals event, which delivered discounts up to 50% on thousands of products across home, apparel, footwear, beauty, accessories, and other categories, both in-store and online.
Other holiday offerings from the retailer include extended assortments, toys starting at $4.99, an online personalized gift list, and extended returns through the end of January.
