Ipsos: Consumer confidence on the rise

Consumers are regaining confidence in the economy.

That’s according to Ipsos’ Consumer Confidence Index, whose overall metric rose 4.6 points from last week to 54.4. That’s the highest it has been since the pandemic started in mid-March. The Expectations Index rose to its highest level since late June, and the Jobs Index rose 4.7 points.

In other findings from Ipsos, the proportions of Americans who report being more comfortable making a major purchase (42%) and another household purchase (48%) compared to six months ago are both up 7 points since last week.

Americans who believe the economy will recover quickly once pandemic-related restrictions are relaxed are a slim majority once again at 51%, up 3 points from last week.
