The Giant Company offers health-focused virtual ‘pantry makeover’

A mid-Atlantic grocery chain is helping customers refresh their pantries for healthier living in the new year.

The Giant Company, a banner of Ahold Delhaize USA, is running a pantry makeover virtual series, featuring its staff dietitians, every Thursday in January at 12 p.m. Each week, the dietitians will discuss a different category of items to keep on hand, discuss their favorite pantry staples, and provide viewers with recipe ideas.

Following is the January 2024 schedule for The Giant Company’s pantry makeover virtual series:

• The Jan. 4 class focuses on protein with a recipe for tuna and white bean salad.
• The Jan. 11 class focuses on pantry-friendly fruits and veggies, including a quick carrot cake oatmeal recipe.
• The Jan. 18 class spotlights spices and a clean-out-the-pantry vegetarian chili recipe.
• The Jan. 25 class features ways to use some of the “forgotten” grains in a customer’s pantry, including a recipe for Triscuit strawberry-balsamic delight.

By attending the virtual well-being classes and providing their Giant or Martin’s loyalty card number in January, customers will also be automatically entered into a random drawing to win one of three virtual pantry makeovers conducted by a dietitian. 

In addition, customers can earn 50 Giant Company Choice loyalty program points for each class attended (limit one account/card number for each class). Attendance to class is required to receive points. 

Points earned for all classes attended in a given month will be awarded between the first and seventh day of the following month. All classes are free to attend, but advanced registration is required.

Giant Food, a fellow Ahold Delhaize USA grocery banner operating in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, and the District of Columbia, has been offering similar free, weekly online nutrition and healthy living classes since April 2020; and ran a five-week series of health- and nutrition-focused virtual classes in early 2023.
