Several supermarket chains operating in the Midwest, South and Northeast are all now providing online order fulfillment via DoorDash.

Fresh Encounter, Fruitful Yield, Plum Market, Robert Fresh Market, and Stew Leonard’s have all teamed up with DoorDash to provide online delivery to their customers. More details of each collaboration follow:

Fresh Encounter

Fresh Encounter is a regional supermarket chain that operates 50 stores under a variety of banners in Ohio, Indiana, and Northern Kentucky, including Great Scot, Community Markets, Sack n Save, Germantown Fresh Market, Remke Markets, Chief Supermarkets and Needler’s Fresh Market.

The new partnership with DoorDash marks Fresh Encounter’s first third-party delivery offering. Grand Rapids, Mich.-based food solutions company SpartanNash acquired Fresh Encounters in October 2024.

Fruitful Yield

This family-owned health food store chain operates 11 locations in the Chicagoland area.

Plum Market

A natural and organic grocer offering a curated selection of locally sourced, organic, and specialty items, as well as beverage and wellness products, Plum Market will offer DoorDash delivery from five locations in Michigan and Florida.

Robert Fresh Market

This family-owned chain operates six locations in the Greater New Orleans area and is now letting customers order DoorDash delivery online.

Stew Leonard’s

Family-owned and operated farm-fresh food store Stew Leonard’s specializes in high-quality meat, seafood, produce, made-from-scratch baked goods, and meal solutions, and will provide online delivery via DoorDash from eight locations across Connecticut, New Jersey and New York.

Stew Leonard’s also recently rolled out the new "in-store mode" on Instacart Storefront, an end-to-end omnichannel digital commerce platform designed specifically for grocers. This feature helps customers see what’s in stock, get details about items on their list – such as whether they’re EBT SNAP-eligible, sort items by aisle, and obtain access to in-store promotions and discounts.

These new partners will also all be available on DashPass, DoorDash’s paid membership program that offers members $0 delivery fees, reduced service fees, and member-only benefits on eligible orders from its partners. Regional East Coast grocer Wegmans also recently initiated an on-demand delivery partnership with DoorDash.

"It has been a monumental year for DoorDash’s grocery business with many beloved grocers – from the nation’s largest supermarket chains to neighborhood favorites – joining the platform," said Fuad Hannon, VP of new verticals at DoorDash. "On-demand delivery continues to play an essential role in consumers’ daily routines as the percentage of consumers that shop across grocery on DoorDash has continued to grow significantly."

As of June 2024, DoorDash says it has more than 115,000 non-restaurant stores on its marketplace in North America, including beauty, retail and grocery stores.
