Starbucks is expanding its DoorDash partnership to its app.

Starbucks Coffee Company is allowing customers to use the Starbucks app to place orders for delivery via DoorDash.

Starbucks customers in the U.S. and Canada (excluding Quebec) can now use the Starbucks app to order delivery, with fulfillment provided by DoorDash. When customers who live within the radius of participating stores open the Starbucks app, they can now toggle between pickup and delivery at the top of the store selection screen.

DoorDash delivery within the Starbucks app leverages the online ordering solution of the DoorDash Commerce Platform, a recently released integrated ordering system designed to enable partner retailers to personalize the digital experience, capture customer-specific insights, and drive user engagement.

To celebrate the launch of this new joint mobile delivery offering, customers can receive $0 delivery fees on orders placed within the Starbucks app from Wednesday, Nov. 13 through Sunday, Nov. 17.

"By offering delivery in the Starbucks app for the first time, Starbucks is making it easier for customers to enjoy their favorite beverage and food from the Starbucks menu and simplifying the ordering process," a spokesperson for Starbucks said in an email.

Starbucks builds on existing delivery options

Starbucks, which has been offering on-demand delivery in partnership with Uber Eats nationwide since spring 2020, went nationwide with a DoorDash online delivery collaboration in spring 2023. In the U.S., this partnership has provided customers with access to Starbucks delivery via the DoorDash app on iOS and Android devices, in addition to the DoorDash site.

Like Starbucks orders placed through its app, its orders placed through the DoorDash platform are delivered by DoorDash associates. These customers can track their orders through DoorDash, from preparation to drop-off.

Starbucks says it has developed packaging solutions to help ensure the quality of hot and cold menu items, including stickers for beverages to avoid spilling, tamper-evident packaging, and delivery-specific cup holders.

The retailer offers approximately 95% of its core menu items on the DoorDash app and site, and just as they would at Starbucks, customers can customize their orders within the DoorDash app and site, including the ability to choose the amount of syrup, type of milk and espresso roasts.
