First Look: Three-level, 'shared reality' entertainment venue Cosm opens in Detroit

Detroit residents and visitors have a new venue in the heart of the city to catch live sports, movies and other events.

“Shared reality” event venue Cosm Detroit officially opened to the public on Sept. 10, offering visitors a three-level viewing experience that features Cosm’s “revolutionary” domed and compound curved LED technology.

The new venue is the anchor of Development at Cadillac Square, a 1.5 million-square-foot mixed-use project developed by Bedrock Detroit located next to Campus Martius Park. Retail, residential and office spaces will join the project in the future, according to the company.

First announced in late 2024, Cosm Detroit joins other Cosm locations in Los Angeles, Atlanta and Dallas. The Detroit location is its smallest – spanning approximately 70,000 square feet – but still offers the same immersive viewing experience as other locations.

At the heart of Cosm Detroit is "The Dome" – its primary Shared Reality experience that features an immersive 87-foot-diameter LED display that surrounds the audience. Social seating includes from high tops and doubles to lounge booths, and food and drinks can be ordered and delivered directly to the seats.

"The Hall" combines Shared Reality technology with the atmosphere of a live sporting or entertainment event. The two-story space features a large display, tables, booths and balcony views, with food and beverage available through app ordering or onsite servers.
