eBay streamlines selling with new suite of tools

eBay messaging assistant
eBay is letting sellers negotiate via messaging.

eBay is releasing a set of solutions to aid sellers in areas such as messaging and managing cost and inventory.

The online retail giant is launching seller tools in several areas, including:

Messaging

A new AI assistant for messaging solution is rolling out to users this week on the eBay mobile app and web in the U.S. and U.K. This opt-in tool drafts suggested replies to common buyer questions about item specifics or shipping using the information already in listing description and order details.

Responses are not sent automatically so sellers can review, edit, or dismiss each suggestion. A new "offers in messaging" tool available via the eBay mobile app and web in the U.S. enables buyers and sellers to negotiate offers directly within the messaging thread, allowing them to send, receive, counter and accept offers without switching screens and while tracking past offers and messages in one place.

Costs

eBay is introducing an optional "Your cost" field in the listing flow in an effort to streamline seller inputting, updating and managing costs. Once an item has resulted in a sale, sellers can also input and update their cost from the earnings page.

Sellers can update the cost data at any time and use it to plan promotions, adjust ad rates, and price their inventory. It will also feed into their earnings page, which is located under the Seller Hub Payments tab.

This feature will begin rolling out to U.S. sellers this fall and will be available in the Seller Hub single and bulk listing tools, order details page, and in the earnings page under the payments tab.

Inventory

eBay’s new scalable inventory mapping API takes seller inputs like images, product identifiers and catalog aspects and generates optimized qualifiers such as titles, item specifics and descriptions. The tool will begin rolling out to select U.S. sellers in the coming weeks.

Seller protections

Starting in October 2025, if a seller ships on time with eBay labels and tracked shipping and tracking shows the item as delivered after a refund is issued, eBay will reimburse the seller for the item cost and remove any negative or neutral feedback left as a result of delayed delivery.

In addition, beginning in September 2025, when a seller in the U.S. uses a tracked service, delivers on time, and no issues are reported, eBay will automatically leave positive feedback for the seller if the buyer hasn’t already done so.

eBay develops AI solutions to streamline product listings

eBay continues equipping sellers on its platform with AI. The company recently released a new selling tool called the "magical bulk listing tool" that leverages generative AI to let sellers upload batches of product images for which eBay will generate draft listings with suggested categories, titles, and item specifics within seconds.

The retailer also uses generative AI to let sellers transform product listing images into professional-quality videos.
