Cracker Barrel Old Country Store is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a one-time event in the heart of New York City.
The retailer will open a postage stamp-sized Cracker Barrel store display as part of its debut in the 93rd Annual Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. The 269-sq.-ft. "Tiny Home Away from Home" will make its way from Cracker Barrel's headquarters in Lebanon, Tennessee to New York City. The store will be open to visitors before Thanksgiving, where it will appear in the famed parade on a giant floating stage.
The miniature store is designed to replicate the experience of visiting a real Cracker Barrel and features some of the retailer’s most signature store elements, including its iconic front porch, complete with rocking chairs, and a glowing fireplace. It also boasts wood reclaimed from the very first Cracker Barrel store, which opened on Sept. 19, 1969, in Lebanon. To get a peek at what shopping Cracker Barrel is like, the store will house a selection of gifts, nostalgic toys, music and packaged foods (for display only; nothing is available for sale.)
"As we celebrate our golden anniversary, this is a big moment for Cracker Barrel, and we wanted to do something extra special to mark our first-ever appearance in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade by creating a miniature Cracker Barrel experience that recalls the unique atmosphere of hospitality enjoyed by guests," said Jeff Sigel, VP of marketing at Cracker Barrel, which operate 660 company-owned locations in 45 states. "With no locations in New York City, we're unveiling our tiny home in Foley Square on Nov. 27 and offering those in the area the opportunity to experience a taste of Cracker Barrel as we honor our 50-year legacy."
