    Hoffman Estates, Ill. -- Sears is offering personalized digital coupons to members of its Shop Your Way loyalty program that are redeemable in-store, online and from a mobile device. Members can download the virtual coupons, tailored to their interests, style preferences and shopping habits, from the Internet or the Sears mobile app.

  • Kmart’s new viral campaign takes 'yo momma' back to school

    HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Kmart is kicking it old school this back-to-school season with its latest viral ad campaign, which features “yo momma” jokes. The campaign follows closely on the heels of the retailer’s similarly irreverent "Ship My Pants" and "Big Gas Savings" campaigns.

  • Staples, Best Buy, Office Depot score highest on recycling report card

    San Francisco -- Although most of the 16 electronics retailers scored by the Electronics TakeBack Coalition received an “F” grade, three companies – Staples, Best Buy and Office Depot – were deemed to have effective recycling programs.

    More than half of the retailers failed the Coalition’s assessment, including Walmart, Amazon, Costco, Sam’s Club and Sears.

    With just a few days until the San Diego Comic-Con kicks off, Hasbro has announced the expansion of its Kre-O construction brand to include Dungeons & Dragons, the iconic fantasy entertainment brand from Wizards of the Coast, a subsidiary of Hasbro. 

  • Former PetSmart CEO appointed to Hanes board

    WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — HanesBrands has appointed former PetSmart chairman and CEO Robert F. Moran to the company’s board of directors.

    Moran, 62, whose term runs until the 2014 annual meeting of stockholders, will serve on the board’s audit committee. With Moran’s appointment, the Hanes board has 10 members.

    Moran's international career in the retail industry spans four decades. He retired last month from PetSmart, where served as COO from 2001 to 2009, prior to being promoted to CEO.

  • Lifestyle retailer Fixtures Living to change name to PIRCH

    San Diego -- Fixtures Living, which specializes in premium lifestyle products for the home, is changing its name to "PIRCH." The official switchover occurs on Aug. 29.

  • Sportsman’s Warehouse signs at Washington State Mall

    Wenatchee, Wash. -- Sportsman’s warehouse has signed a lease for a 49,000-sq.-ft. former Sears location at the Wenatchee Valley Mall in Wenatchee, Wash., according to Vintage Real Estate, which brokered the deal.

    The new Sportsman’s will open in the spring of 2014. Sears will open a 10,813-sq.-ft. new format store in the mall.

    HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. — Sears was arguably synonymous with its “Big Book” catalog, but as the world became more technologically advanced and look books went digital, the retailer bade its catalog and catalog stores farewell and shifted to a new retail model of locally owned and operated dealer stores.
