  • Target opens Lily Pulitzer pop-up; line to drop Sunday in stores

    New York - Target Corp. on Thursday opened a pop-up shop at Bryant Park in mid-t0wn Manhattan selling what many experts say will be one of its most popular designer collaborations to date:  A 250-piece Lilly Pulitzer for Target collection. According to reports, 500 to 600 people were waiting in line at 8 a.m. when the temporary store opened.

  • Target, MasterCard reach $19 million breach settlement

    Minneapolis – Target Corp. has entered into a settlement agreement with MasterCard International Inc.to resolve losses from the data breach that Target experienced during the fourth quarter of 2013. Under the agreement, alternative recovery offers will be made by MasterCard to eligible MasterCard issuers worldwide that claimed to have been affected by the data breach. 
     
  • Former Macy’s and Target merchant joins Evine Live

    Evine Live, the digital commerce company formerly known as ShopHQ, named Penny Burnett senior vice president and chief merchandising officer.

    In her new role, Burnett will report to Mark Bozek, CEO of Evine live, a digital commerce company that offers customers multiple ways to shop and interact via television, online and on mobile devices in merchandise categories such as home, beauty, health and fitness, fashion and accessories, jewelry and watches and consumer electronics.

  • Report: Target close to breach settlement with MasterCard

    Minneapolis – Target Corp. is reportedly nearing a $20 million settlement with MasterCard to cover costs related to the retailer’s 2013 data breach. According to the Wall Street Journal, the settlement would pay for the cost of reissuing payment cards and some fraud that resulted from improper use of consumer data.

    Sources indicate Target and MasterCard have been negotiating for months. TJX paid a similar sum to MasterCard to settle costs from a 2008 data breach.
     

  • Giant and Martin’s Food Stores to raise wages

    Carlisle, Pa. -- Giant Food Stores and Martin’s Food Markets said they will begin paying all non-union workers a minimum of $9 a hour beginning in June.

    The operator of 200 stores in Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia said the move was part of the company’s commitment to provide competitive wages.

    "Our associates are the foundation of our success, and we have always believed in paying competitive wages to attract the best talent," said Tom Lenkevich, Giant/Martin’s president.

  • Another retailer matches Walmart wages

    Pennsylvania-based food retailers Giant and Martin’s Food Stores said they will begin paying all non-union workers a minimum of $9 a hour beginning in June.

  • Target names former Safeway, PetSmart exec to revamp grocery

    Minneapolis -- Target Corp. has named grocery and consumer packaged goods veteran Anne Dament to the role of senior VP, merchandising. In the role, she will be responsible for leading the strategic repositioning of Target’s food business.

    The retailer had previously announced its intent to reposition its approach to food over the next 12 to 18 months, with an emphasis on making better-for-you options simple and attainable, providing meal solutions and offering unique selections for everyday occasions as well as entertaining.

  • Target names new head food merchant

    Former Safeway and Supervalu executive Anne Dament has been named senior vice president of merchandising at Target to lead what the company is calling the strategic repositioning of its food business.
