  • Soon-to-be former Saks CEO joins JCP board

    Saks chairman and CEO Stephen Sadove has been named to the board of directors at J.C. Penney to fill a position being vacated by Geraldine Laybourne.

    Sadove will be leaving his position at Saks soon as the upscale department store chain was recently sold to Hudson’s Bay Company. Sadove joined Saks in 2002 as vice chairman and assumed the additional post of chief operating officer in 2004. He became CEO in 2006 and the following year was named chairman.

  • Toys ‘R’ Us Express Pop-Up to Legends Outlets Kansas City

    Kansas City — Legends Outlets Kansas City has announced that a Toys “R” Us Express pop-up location is now open at the Village West shopping and dining destination. The 3,954-sq.-ft. store will operate through the holiday season.

  • Saks Off 5th launches e-commerce site

    New York – Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th has launched an e-commerce site that gives shoppers visibility and accessibility to shop for items that may have limited distribution and only in select stores nationwide.
        
    In addition, the e-commerce site will offer customers access to Salon Z, a plus-size women’s program not available in all stores.

  • Saks Off 5th opens, relocates stores

    New York -- Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th plans to open a second store in Orlando, Fla., on Oct. 3. On the same date, the retailer plans to open its newly relocated store at Potomac Mills in Woodridge, Va.

  • Saks boosts display compliance with Tyco RFID solution

    New York -- Saks Fifth Avenue was able to reach nearly 100% display compliance at its 8th floor shoe department in their flagship New York City store with the TrueVUE Inventory Display Execution application from Tyco Retail Solutions. Using a handheld RFID reader, associates can inventory shoes daily and generate an actionable report of all missing display shoes to replenish. 

  • Saks Off 5th online store is live

    Saks Off 5th has launched its online store, saksoff5th.com. It joins a list of closeout retailers that are getting comfortable in the e-commerce market. The online store will offer up to 55% off merchandise year-round.

  • Simon and Tanger break ground on Charlotte Outlets

    Indianapolis — Simon Property Group and Tanger Factory Outlet Centers have announced that construction has begun on Charlotte Premium Outlets. The first phase of the planned 400,000-sq.-ft. center will open in the summer of 2014. The project is a 50/50 joint venture between Simon and Tanger.

    Charlotte Premium Outlets will feature Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th and more than 90 other outlet stores.

    Tanger is providing site development and construction supervision to the venture. Simon is providing management services and marketing.
