  • Publix expands online deli service

    LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix has expanded its online deli service to 50 stores in select markets.

    Publix customers may place their orders online or via mobile device by visiting www.publix.com/order. Once on the site, customers may select their desired deli custom sub, wrap and/or sliced meats and cheeses, specify pickup time and proceed with order placement. An order pickup number will be provided on the customer’s final order summary and emailed to them as well.

  • Publix enters North Carolina

    Publix is making its North Carolina debut with the planned opening of a new store in the greater Charlotte area.

    The company has signed a lease for a store at Providence Road West and Johnston Road in Ballantyne. The store will be part of a new division based in Charlotte.

    While Ballantyne marks Publix’s long awaited entry into North Carolina, the company is looking ahead to continued growth within the state and in its current operating areas of Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Alabama and Tennessee.

  • Publix to enter North Carolina

    Lakeland, Fla. -- Publix Super Markets announced that it has signed a lease for its first store in the state of North Carolina. The company said it is looking forward to continued growth in the state, and that the new location will be part of a new division based in Charlotte.

    The 56,000-sq. ft. store, which will be located in Ballantyne, N.C., is scheduled to open in early 2014.
     

  • Earnings, private stock price take a hit at Publix

    LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix sales grew $6.8 billion in the second quarter, a 3.2% increase from $6.6 billion for the same period last year. Same-store sales rose 1.9%.

    Net earnings took a slight hit, declining 0.2%, to $381.6 million from $382.4 million in 2011. However, earnings per share for the second quarter increased to 49 cents for 2012, up from 48 cents per share in 2011.

  • Three new tenants join Polo Club Shoppes

    Boca Raton, Fla. -- Miami Beach, Fla.-based Terranova Corp. said that three new tenants will open at Polo Club Shoppes, a Publix-anchored center in Boca Raton, Fla.

    Manhattan Joe’s Pizzeria will open a 753-sq.-ft. restaurant this fall; Blo and Go will open a 923-sq.-ft. salon this fall; and Hair Cuttery has opened a 1,400-sq.-ft. salon.

  • Publix begins test of deli online ordering service

    LAKELAND, Fla. — Publix is testing online ordering of its deli products in one Lakeland, Fla. store beginning Aug. 3. Through the service, customers an order custom subs, wraps, sliced meats and cheeses. Publix expects to roll out the program to 50 additional stores later this year.

  • Sam's Club earns top marks for customer service

    Sam's Club was among the highest-rated companies for customer service, according to new research from the Temkin Group. Other retailers included Publix, Hy-Vee, H.E.B., ShopRite, Aldi, Giant Eagle and JCPenney.

    Other companies earning top marks included Chick-fil-A, credit unions and Starbucks. Meanwhile, companies with the lowest ratings included Charter Communications, Time Warner Cable, Comcast, Citibank, Qwest, Cigna, and Bank of America.
