  • Ohio companies team toward new restaurant concept

    Youngstown, Ohio — AVI Foodsystems and Cafaro Co. have teamed to bring Bob Evans Farms into the mall food court environment.

    Warren, Ohio-based AVI collaborated with Bob Evans Farms to introduce Bob Evans Express, which scales down the traditional Bob Evans restaurant into a concept that works in venues such as workplace cafes, airports, travel plazas and universities.

  • Post Holdings acquires Michael Foods

    Post Holdings plans to acquire Michael Foods and its related entities for $2.45 billion. The acquisition is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2014, subject to customary closing conditions.

    Michael Foods is a leading packaged goods company providing value-added food products and service solutions to customers in the foodservice, retail and food ingredient channels. The company holds leading market positions in each of its three segments and produces a broad range of value-added egg products, potato products and cheese and dairy-case foods.

  • Hershey sweetens up board

    HERSHEY, Pa. — The Hershey Company has appointed Mary Kay Haben to its board of directors. 

    “Mary Kay is a seasoned leader who brings a great wealth of relevant food and confectionery experience to her role as a member of the Hershey board,” said James Nevels, chairman of the board of directors. “She is an accomplished executive with extensive experience managing businesses in the consumer packaged goods industry and has an impressive track record in growing brands and developing new products.”

  • Post cereal parent company moves to expand brands portfolio

    ST. LOUIS — Cereal maker Post Holdings has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Premier Nutrition, makers of the Joint Juice brand.

    PNC is a rapidly growing marketer and distributor of premium protein beverages and foods under its Premier Protein brand and nutritional supplements under its Joint Juice brand.

  • OSL Holdings’ footprint extends into mobile territory

    ORANGEBURG, N.Y. — OSL Holdings, a developer of technology platforms that enable real-time sales and trend information exchange between brands and retailers, has launched its Equality Rewards Mobile platform, iPhone app and mobile website. 

    The Equality Rewards iPhone app is downloadable free through the Apple App Store or you can sign-up through your smartphone.

  • Post Holdings expands brand portfolio

    ST. LOUIS — Post Holdings has entered into a deal to acquire the branded and private label cereal, granola and snacks business of Hearthside Food Solutions, a portfolio company of Wind Point Partners.

  • Post closes Modesto plant

    ST. LOUIS — Post Holdings announced that after discussions with the union representing hourly employees at the Modesto, Calif. plant, the company's management has made a decision to close the Modesto plant.  The Modesto plant has approximately 140 employees. The transfer of production capabilities and closure of the plant is expected to be completed by September 2014. 

  • Bob Evans to deploy workforce management solution from JDA

    Scottsdale, Ariz. -- JDA Software Group announced that Bob Evans Farms will deploy a JDA workforce management solution (formerly RedPrairie WFM) in approximately 565 Bob Evans restaurants.

    Bob Evans selected JDA to help improve forecasting and scheduling of labor, drive proper placement of staff throughout the course of the day and provide exceptional service to every customer.
