  • Nordstrom Q2 profit falls 11%; accelerating expansion on Nordstrom Rack

    Seattle -- Nordstrom on Thursday reported an 11% decline in its second quarter profit, with its performance affected by the timing of its biggest sale of the year. The retailer also raised its profit and sales outlook for the year, and said it would accelerate the expansion of its Nordstrom Rack outlet-store concept.

  • Westfield San Francisco Centre announces fashion debuts

    San Francisco -- Los Angeles-based Westfield Group said that Westfield San Francisco Centrewill welcome a lineup of new luxury retailers to the mall.

    This fall, menswear retailer Onassis Clothing will open a 2,500-sq.-ft. store. Located next to Bloomingdale’s on Level 2, the new Westfield San Francisco Centre store will be the brand’s third location and its first outside of New York.

    Burberry Brit, a casual sportswear concept, opens a standalone 2,500-sq.-ft. store selling apparel, handbags and shoes on Level 1.

  • Henri Bendel opens at Cherry Hill Mall

    Cherry Hill, N.J. -- Philadelphia-based Pennsylvania Real Estate Investment Trust said that Henri Bendel has opened a 2,300-sq.-ft. store at Cherry Hill Mall, in Cherry Hill, N.J.

    Cherry Hill Mall is anchored by Nordstrom, Macy’s and J.C. Penney. Grand Lux Café recently opened its upscale restaurant concept at the mall, and Essensuals London, Pottery Barn and The North Face are all slated to open this year.

    South Jersey’s first Henri Bendel has opened at Cherry Hill Mall, located in Cherry Hill, N.J.

    The PREIT-owned property now features a 2,300-sq.-ft. Henry Bendel designer fashion boutique, joining Nordstrom, True Religion, Hugo Boss, Michael Kors, Guess by Marciano, and more.

    “As South Jersey’s fashion destination, Cherry Hill Mall continues to welcome venerable style icons to the property,” said Lisa Wolstromer, Cherry Hill Mall senior marketing director.

    Retailers can’t seem to get enough of partnerships these days…be it with hot designers, each other or television shows. Below is a quick recap of three new couplings that have the industry buzzing.

    1. Nordstrom and Topshop: Looking to add more fashion sizzle to its offerings, Nordstrom has entered into a joint venture with Topshop, the British fast-fashion giant known for its runway-inspired threads and rock ‘n’ roll attitude.

  • Nordstrom, TopShop to launch joint-venture pilot in 14 Nordstrom stores

    Seattle -- Nordstrom and British fashion brand TopShop said Thursday they have formed a partnership to launch TopShop and TopMan in-store departments in 14 Nordstrom stores, as well as on Nordstrom.com beginning Sept. 10.   

    The joint venture makes Nordstrom the only large U.S. retailer to sell a broad assortment of the British fashion brands' merchandise in-store and online.

    TopShop and TopMan have flagship stores in New York, Chicago, Las Vegas and Los Angeles (opening spring 2013).
