  • Moen names global design director

    Faucet manufacturer Moen Inc. promoted Ji Kim to director of global design, effective immediately. In her new role, Kim will be responsible for providing design leadership and vision for the global design team at Moen. She will set and drive strategy for product design in several countries for categories including faucets, showerheads, accessories and bath safety items.

  • Nike revenues soar in Q4, but EPS down

    BEAVERTON, Ore. — Nike reported that fourth quarter revenues rose 12%t, or 14% on a currency neutral basis, to $6.5 billion, the largest revenue quarter in the company's history. This was a result of higher revenues across every Nke brand geography, key category and product type.

  • Simon opens Merrimack Premium Outlets

    Merrimack, N.H. -- Indianapolis-based Simon Property Group said Thursday that it has opened Merrimack Premium Outlets, an upscale outlet shopping center serving the Greater Boston and Nashua markets.

  • Eddie Bauer names former Nike executive as new CEO

    Seattle -- Eddie Bauer announced Tuesday that Michael R. Egeck has been named its president and CEO, replacing interim CEO David Chamberlain who will remain a member of the board.

    Egeck was most recently CEO of Hurley International, a division of Nike. He has also served as president of True Religion.

  • Simon Property Group acquires 50% ownership of Florida outlet center

    Indianapolis -- Simon Property Group announced that it has acquired 50% of Silver Sands Factory Stores, an outlet shopping destination located in Destin, Florida. Howard Group, developer of the center, will remain 50% owner of the center. Simon will assume primary responsibility of leasing and management duties.

    The 465,000-sq.-ft. Silver Sands center is home to over 100 stores including Ann Taylor Factory Store, Coach, Cole Haan, J.Crew, Kenneth Cole, Michael Kors, Nike and Saks Fifth Avenue Off 5th.
     

  • Nike puts Cole Haan on the selling block

    New York -- Nike Inc. is trimming its portfolio. The company announced it will sell its Cole Haan and Umbro brands to cut costs and focus on its core namesake brand.

    Nike acquired Cole Haan, which specializes in casual and dress shoes, handbags and accessories, in 1988 for $80 million, plus the assumption of $15 million in debt. Cole Haan operates more than 180 stores throughout the United States, Canada, the Middle East and Asia.

    Nike bought the soccer gear and apparel company Umbro in 2008 for $565 million.

  • JCPenney to roll out several new brands; open 20,000-sq.-ft. in-store home shop

    NEW YORK — JCPenney executives laid out further details of their strategy going forward during the chain’s quarterly conference call with investors. The call followed the release of JCPenney’s first quarter results, when it reported a worse-then-expected loss of $163 million, and a 19% drop in same-store sales.

    JCPenney said it would launch a new private label apparel brand, jcp, for both men and women. The brand is set to debut in August.
