  • Retailers face legal challenges over advertising prices

    Retailers have had a tough year when it comes to advertising prices. In January, a California court issued a multimillion dollar penalty against Overstock.com, after determining that the company advertised discounts in a misleading manner. Since then, retailers across a range of industries have been dragged into costly lawsuits and regulatory investigations involving similar issues. If you’re wondering how something as mundane as advertising the price of an item could lead to so much trouble it’s because the issue is more complicated than most people think.

  • Neiman Marcus Group to acquire German online retailer, flagship store

    Dallas -- Neiman Marcus Group has signed an agreement to acquire the German luxury fashion e-commerce site  Mytheresa.com and Theresa, its flagship Munich store from Christoph and Susanne Botschen and Acton Capital Partners. The transaction is expected to close later this year.

  • Neiman Marcus to open its first Manhattan store, at Hudson Yards

    New York -- The department store wars are sure to heat up in Manhattan with the announcement that Neiman Marcus is coming to the Big Apple. The luxury retailer will open its first-ever location in Manhattan, in 2018. The 250,000-sq.-ft. three-level store will help anchor the new Hudson Yards development, a multi-use project located on the city's West Side, between 30th and 34th Streets.

    The Mall at Short Hills (New Jersey) will launch the holidays with its 13th annual “Santa Paws” promotion, as shoppers have pictures taken with Santa--pets in tow. On Nov. 9 and Nov. 16, shoppers will bring their canine companions--in costume, if desired--to the Ice Palace at Grand Court on the lower level of The Mall at Short Hills and have a holiday photo taken.
