  • Alipay expands North American presence

    More North American shoppers will have access to Alipay.   Through a partnership with leading luxury travel retailer DFS Group, Alipay’s in-store mobile payment service will be available in DFS’ Honolulu International Airport store, and its downtown T Galleria by DFS, Hawaii store in advance of the Chinese New Year. DFS Group launched Alipay in its airport stores in SFO, LAX, and JFK in 2016.  
  • QVC launches multi-platform beauty shopping experience

    The fast-growing beauty category represented 17% of QVC’s global sales in 2015, but the retailer wants more.    To grab a bigger share of the category, the digital retailer will launch the Beauty iQ network, a multi-platform beauty shopping experience designed to engage beauty lovers. The program, which is set to launch on Oct. 31, will be viewable in over 40 million homes in the U.S. via distributors, including DirecTV, U-verse, Dish and Roku.   
  • Coach names new chief of Stuart Weitzman brand

    Coach Inc. is appointing Wendy Kahn, as CEO and brand president – Stuart Weitzman, effective Sept. 13, 2016.   Kahn will succeed Wayne Kulkin, the brand’s current CEO, who will become a consultant to Coach. She joins the luxury retailer from Valentino Fashion Group, where she currently holds the position of CEO – Valentino, USA and V.F.G., USA & Canada. Previously, Kahn served as senior VP of sales, marketing & retail for Valentino from 2006-2008.  
  • Online fashion retail shaping up as powerhouse market

    Online shoppers in the United States spent $92 billion on apparel, footwear and accessories in 2015.

    That’s according to a new report, by global technology research and advisory company Technavio.

  • CityCenter enters into agreement to sell The Shops at Crystals in Las Vegas

    Las Vegas -- CityCenter Holding -- a venture between MGM Resorts International and Infinity World Development Corp. -- announced that it has entered into an agreement with a venture led by Invesco Real Estate and Simon Property Group to acquire The Shops at Crystals in Las Vegas, for a purchase price of approximately $1.1 billion.

  • LVMH says A-OK to AT&T

    Paris – Luxury retail group LVMH has re-appointed AT&T as its global supplier for advanced communications services. In a four-year, multi-million-dollar agreement, AT&T will connect more than 4,500 LVMH sites in more than 100 countries.  

  • ABG acquires Jones New York, strategic advisor named

    New York -- Following its January 2015 spinoff from private-equity firm Sycamore Partners, Jones New York has been acquired by Authentic Brands Group, LLC, owner of a global portfolio of fashion, sports, media and entertainment brands.

    Sycamore previously announced it would close all Jones New York retail locations and seek strategic alternatives for the beleaguered brand.

  • Stuart Weitzman names president, global retail

    New York -- Stuart Weitzman Holdings announced that Alyssa Mishcon has joined as president, global retail. Mishcon will oversee all aspects of the global retail business including customer experience and relationship management, strategic operations development, merchandising and international retail growth.

    Mishcon brings more than 15 years of experience in luxury brands, working most recently as president of Thomas Pink Inc., LVMH Fashion Group and then previously VP strategy, merchandising & retail at TAG Heuer, LVHM Watch & Jewelry Division.
