  • American Eagle expands portfolio and profit

    American Eagle Outfitters is adding brands to its portfolio that could diversify the company's reach and eventually lead to new store formats.

    American Eagle has acquired Todd Snyder New York, an upscale menswear brand, and Snyder’s Tailgate Clothing Co., a vintage sports-inspired brand that operates a college-town store concept.

    Todd Synder, founder and creative director of his eponymous company, will join American Eagle as executive VP, reporting to Chad Kessler, global brand president, American Eagle

  • Gap exec rejoins company as board member

    Veteran apparel retailer Tracy Gardner will join the Gap Inc. board, effective Nov. 11.

    Gap has relied on Gardner on multiple occasions the past 25 years as an employee and advisor. Gardner worked at the company from 1991 to 1994 in various creative roles and from 1998 to 2004 in senior leadership positions, including head of Gap adult merchandising. This past year she served as an advisor to the Gap brand and functioned in a similar role in 2012.

  • Former Gap CEO joins eBay board

    eBay is turning to the former chief executive of a major specialty retailer to help provide its board of directors some guidance.

    Paul Pressler, who served as president and CEO of Gap Inc. from 2002-2007, has been named to eBay’s board and will serve on the Audit Committee as well as the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee.

    The top executive at Gap Inc.’s fastest growing division, Old Navy, has resigned to become CEO of Ralph Lauren.

    Gap Inc. said that Stefan Larsson would step down as global president of Old Navy effective October 2, 2015, and the division would be led on an interim basis by Jill Stanton, executive VP of global product at Old Navy.

  • Gap to expand life skills training for female garment workers

    Gap plans to expand the training program it offers to its women garment workers oversees, aiming to educate at least 1 million women by 2020.

    The program, called P.A.C.E. (Personal Advancement & Career Enhancement), launched in 2007 and gives women garment workers access to a curriculum up to 80 hours long in up to nine areas, from communications skills, financial literacy, stress management, problem-solving and decision-making.
