  • Fairway Group taps veteran grocery retailer Jack Murphy as CEO

    New York -- Fairway Group Holdings Corp. has named Jack Murphy, a veteran retail executive with strong experience in specialty food retailing, as CEO.

    Murphy was a co-founder of natural foods grocer Fresh Fields, which was sold to Whole Foods Market. Most recently he served as CEO of Earth Fare, an organics and natural food chain with locations in the Southeast and Midwest.

  • Fairway Group shrinks net loss in Q1

    New York - Fairway Group Holdings Corp., the parent company of Fairway Market, shrank its net loss to $9.7 million in the first quarter of fiscal 2015 compared to $27.95 million in the same quarter the prior year. Declining general and administrative expenses, resulting from the elimination of IPO- and consultant-related fees from the first quarter of fiscal 2014, helped reduce net loss.

  • Fairway Market renews, expands optimization software deal with Revionics

    Austin, Texas -- Revionics, a global provider of end-to-end merchandise optimization solutions, announced that Fairway Group Holdings Corp., parent company of Fairway Market, will renew its Revionics price optimization license for three years and expand the agreement to include the use of the company’s promotion optimization.

  • Fairway Markets CEO to retire

    New York -- Fairway Holdings Corp., operators of Fairway Markets, announced that CEO Herbert Ruetsch will retire after fifteen years with the company, including the last two years as chief executive.  Ruetsch will remain a special advisor to Fairway and continue to provide input into certain merchandising and product initiatives.

    William Sanford, president of Fairway, will assume the role of interim CEO while the board undertakes a search for a permanent replacement.

  • Fairway Markets plans New York store

    New York - Fairway Group Holdings Corp., the parent company of Fairway Market, is opening a 65,000-sq.-ft. store in Nanuet, N.Y., on Oct. 10.

    "We're excited to make our newest home at this premier shopping destination in Nanuet and are also very pleased to be creating more than 300 new jobs in the area," said Charles Santoro, Fairway Market's executive chairman.

  • Fairway Market installs hearing loop to help deaf customers

    New York -- Fairway Group Holdings Corp., parent company of Fairway Market, is the first supermarket in New York City to install technology to help customers who are deaf place their shopping orders.

    The company said it has installed a hearing loop at its Broadway store's deli counter which works with an individual's telecoil-equipped hearing instrument or cochlear implant.

  • Fairway Market to anchor Hudson Yards

    New York – Fairway Market will be the anchor grocer at the Hudson Yards residential/retail complex being developed by Related Companies and Oxford Properties Group in Manhattan. The 45,875-sq.-ft. store will be located in the Hudson Yards South Tower.
