    Keeping a store open during a remodel versus closing it until the work is completed was the theme of the SPECS session, “Open Store Remodels: Best Practices for Maintaining the Customer Experience and the Focus on Sales.” The session was part of the Ground-Up Construction and Remodeling workshop track.

    Although the speakers had experience with both methodologies, they focused more on ways to keep the store open during the process.

  • Denny’s licenses APT test-and-learn management system

    Washington, D.C. -- Applied Predictive Technologies said Tuesday that family restaurant chain Denny’s Corp. has licensed APT's Test & Learn Management System.  

    Denny’s will use APT’s solution to test strategic and tactical initiatives across its 1,670 restaurants.

  • HEB, Walmart and Denny’s to host electrical vehicle charging stations

    Austin -- H-E-B, Walmart, Sam’s Club and Denny’s are among the companies that will host some 103 electric vehicle charging stations in Austin, Texas., allowing customers to plug in while they shop. The stations are part of Utility Austin Energy’s Plug-In EVerywhere network.

    The charging stations are available for use by everyone with an electric vehicle. Austin Energy offers a $25 six-month subscription swipe card for unlimited charging at any network location. Otherwise, a credit card can be used for $2 per hour of charging.

  • Denny’s makes Cree LEDs preferred lighting standard

    Durham, N.C. -- Denny’s Corp. has chosen LED lights from Cree as the preferred lighting standard for all its new and remodeled stores across the United States. Cree’s six-inch downlights are being specified in various applications, including dining areas and restrooms.
