  • Costco opens new club in Huntington Beach

    Huntington Beach, Calif. -- DJM Capital Partners said that a new 154,000-sq.-ft. Costco has opened at Bella Terra, an open-air center in Huntington Beach, Calif. Costco opened in a building vacated by Mervyn’s.

    Costco at Bella Terra is a full-format store offering Gas Station, Fresh Bakery, Fresh Meat, Fresh Produce, Fresh Deli with Rotisserie Chicken, Optical Department, 1-Hour Photo, Pharmacy, Tire Center, Hearing Aid Center, Fine Wine & Liquor and Food Court.

  • Costco's board OKs increase in quarterly dividend

    ISSAQUAH, Wash. — Costco announced that its board of directors declared a quarterly cash dividend on Costco common stock and approved an increase from 24 cents to 27.5 cents per share, or from 96 cents per share to $1.10 per share on an annualized basis.

    The quarterly dividend is payable June 8 to shareholders of record at the close of business on May 25.

    Costco plans to release its operating results for the third quarter, ended May 6, on May 24.

I’m talking about those people who shop both the high-end luxury retailers and the discount or even dollar stores. I recently read an article that indicated one-quarter of all Nordstrom shoppers also shop at the Dollar Store. And, I started to ask myself if this trend is here to stay.

    “We have developed 350 projects, including 125 or 130 shopping centers,” said Mel Sembler, recently named chairman emeritus. “It’s been an interesting career.”
