  • Report: Is ‘Apple Cash’ on the horizon?

    Apple may be the next company to provide a money-transfer service.   Sources said Apple has recently held discussions with payments industry partners about introducing a program that would allow iPhone owners to send money to each other digitally, according to ReCode.   If Apple’s plan pans out, its service will rival offerings from big U.S. banks, as well as PayPal, its millennial-popular subsidiary Venmo, and Square Cash, the report said.  
  • Virtual reality 'Justice League' film is coming to malls

    A few select malls will be the benefactors of what might prove to be the entertainment sensation of the year — a virtual reality version of "Justice League 2017."   IMAX Corp. and Warner Bros. Home Entertainment have announced a virtual reality co-venture that will issue three interactive VR versions of upcoming Warner Bros. blockbusters. "Justice League" will be the first, scheduled to hit IMAX cinemas for the holiday season, to be followed by "Aquaman" and a yet-to-be-determined film franchise.

  • Apple opening three new stores in March

    Apple will be busy on March 25.    The company will open three new stores on that day,  including a flagship at Brickell City Center, a new mixed-use development  in downtown Miami.  It will be Apple’s fifth location in the Miami area.    The new Miami store will have  13-foot floor-to-ceiling windows, and a forum space with an oversized video display, according to TechCrunch.  
  • The world’s most valuable retail brands are…

    An online giant and the world’s biggest retailer claim the top two positions in a study that ranks retail companies by their brand value.   Amazon ranked as the world’s most valuable retail brand in the annual study by valuation and strategy consultancy Brand Finance. The company’s brand value, $106.4 billion, is nearly double that of Walmart ($62.2 billion), which ranked as the second most valuable retail brand.   • Report: Apple fixing security holes in devices revealed by CIA

    Following a report that said the CIA is capable of breaking into Apple devices, the electronics company is working diligently to fix potential vulnerabilities.   On Tuesday, March 7, the WikiLeaks website said the CIA has an arsenal of malware ready to undermine security and encryption measures on Apple’s iPhones, Mac OS operating system, AirPort routers, according to ReCode.   
  • How Amazon Web Services outage impacted retailers

    A good number of retailers were impacted when Amazon Web Services — the company’s most profitable division — experienced a four-hour outage on Tuesday.      The outage caused major headaches for millions of AWS customers, according to web monitoring and optimization firm Apica, which monitored the top 100 Internet retailer sites during the outage.       
  • Apple's spaceship-styled, energy-conserving home office to lift off in April

    Apple is preparing to unveil its latest development: Apple Park.   The name of Apple’s new spaceship-looking home office, Apple Park is a 175-acre campus located in California’s Santa Clara Valley. The new building, slated to open in April, will welcome more than 12,000 people over a six-month period. Construction of the campus and parklands is scheduled to continue through the summer, Apple said.
