  • Leslie's Poolmart CEO to retire

    The chief executive of the nation's largest specialty retailer of swimming pool and spa supplies and related products is stepping down.    Leslie's announced that chairman and CEO Lawrence Hayward will be retiring and transitioning from his role as CEO, effective September 30, 2017.  He will continue to serve as chairman.   
  • Chico's misses on Q2 sales and profit; taps beauty exec as Soma president

    Chico's FAS' profit and revenue declined in the second quarter amid same-store declines across all its banners.      The women's apparel retailer also named Mary van Praag as president of Soma, effective September 5, 2017.  She most recently served as CEO of Perricone MD. Prior to that, she held senior executive roles at Coty, and Johnson & Johnson's beauty division.

  • Head of international to leave Hudson's Bay

    An 11-year veteran of Canadian department store giant HBC is stepping down.    HBC, whose banners include Hudson's Bay, Saks Fifth Avenue, and Lord & Taylor, announced that Don Watros, president of HBC International, has made the decision to leave, effective September 29, 2017. The company did not name a successor.   
  • J. Crew names finance head amid ongoing sales decline

    J.Crew Group named an internal associate as CFO as the retailer continues to struggle to turn around its namesake brand.   The retailer announced that Vincent Zanna, previously senior VP of finance and treasurer, has been promoted to CFO and treasurer, effective immediately. He will continue to report to Michael Nicholson, who was previously CFO and COO, and now serves as president and COO.    
  • Sur La Table exec joins fast-growing restaurant chain

    Mod Super Fast Pizza Holdings has named its first chief marketing officer.   The Seattle-based company has appointed Tracy Cioffi as chief marketing officer, effective immediately. She will lead the fast-casual restaurant chain's global marketing strategy.  
  • Target names new strategy and innovation chief

    Target Corp. has tapped a McKinsey & Company veteran to head up its innovation efforts.    The retailer appointed Minsok Pak as executive VP, chief strategy and innovation officer. He replaces Casey Carl, who left the company in May.   
  • eBay exec to head up Macy's brand

    In a move that reflects the increased prominence of digital in traditional retail operations, Macy's has hired a senior eBay executive as president of its namesake brand.    Hal Lawton has been named president of Macy’s, effective Sept. 8, 2017. He will be responsible for all aspects of the Macy’s brand, including merchandising, marketing, stores, operations, technology, and consumer insights and analytics. Lawton will report to CEO Jeff Gennette, who previously held the role before becoming chief executive in March.
